There are hints for the society before Hallownest, which worshipped the VOID.

Do you have any headcanons for what it was like?

I had to think for a while on this tbh, because I honestly just don't think too much about the actual structure of what the void civ must have been like since it's just been almost totally wiped out, presumably at the Radiance's hands. What I DO think is that vestiges of its culture linger on in the Snail Shamans, as I am very sure that they were the main society focused on void worship. The many shells in the walls of Hallownest (especially the Abyss) point to it once being a vast sea, which would suit the snails quite well, and they are tied very very heavily to Little Ghost learning how to harvest their magic. Likely they studied death and regret and its ties to life, which they then weaved into soul arts to escape the notice of the Pale King when he rolled into town

Being devoted to the original god of the void likely was different than what we think of as contemporary worship, however. Rather than a larger-than-life buglike being that hides its flaws behind mysticism, the original god of void was likely closer to worshipping a hurricane than a living being. So that probably meant that actual prayers for help were directed to the spirits of ancestors that might yet linger in the echoes of the void, while the void itself was considered a raw force of nature to revere and draw power from
