When the school servers crash and you get a chance to ~✨ V I B E ✨~
It's the first official day of virtual learning! May our technology not fail and our students show up!
Adding a little affirmations that were sent out. I also want to keep a little blurb/journal for the school year.
About to go into a meet with the teacher for my classroom and I am really not ready to sit here and basically critique her teaching skills. As god awful as they are I really hate being mean 😭
I am on a rampage today y’all.
I have had problems with this health teacher since the beginning, he doesn’t seem to care about the kids at all and always gets their names wrong. And we are a small department too, 13 kids all with really strong personalities. His lessons are lazy, he throws on a 5 minute video and hands out a very small coloring packet and then ignores us for the rest of the 45 minutes.
So today was our first virtual health class and this man doesn’t show up for the entire period. Then once we dismiss the class he has the audacity to jump in and start playfully blaming us for the kids not showing up =_=.
I do not have the patience for this today.
Its cold, its windy, my roommate has been in the hospital since midnight, and this teacher cannot teach.
I am having a moment
First week is done!
We got through it guys! So proud of everyone for being so flexible and understanding while we all learn the ins and outs of technology! Now pour yourself a glass of red and relax for a minute.
I am not going to lie, this had been quite eye opening for me. First of which is the new teacher I am working with, she was hired last year and I heard through the grape vine that she was not great. Now I see what they mean, this girl has zero idea or confidence in what she is doing.
Now, I find out I was moved to her room to basically “guide her”, which I get. But I am also like WTF. I get that I tend to be the rule enforcer/lady people ask for, but I truly don’t know what they want me to do. Everyday I am helping plan every lesson and reminding her that simple stuff like “Give them enough time for each question” “Make sure your telling them clearly what you want them to do.” “Don’t say everyones name 100 times.” But I feel like I am talking to a wall. T_T
Last thing is that I finally have a word for what I feel like when people look to me for advice. Imposter Syndrome. I legit didn’t know that this was a thing!! Now I can do some self reflecting this weekend.
Our school day is over! Overall we had 2 out of 4 kids join us for the whole day! Some interesting tech problems rose up and we had one break down. But we did it and we ended on a high note!!
Can’t wait for tomorrow!
And now the panic sets in.
Just as we are getting the hang of virtual learning we are told that we might be going back to in person learning next month. And it looks like it is going though.
I legit can't with these fucking heartless idiots. They are too worried about their precious school ratings that they would never stop to think about the actual people that are going to be affected.
Like what am I supposed to do?
Any advice is welcome.
