❛     i  know  your  intentions,  zavala.     ❜     she  bites  back  a  laugh,  singular  and  wrought  with  disbelief.     her  stare  is  bitter,  hurt,  with  eyes  narrowed  as  she  watches.     the  tower  knows.     but  she  would  be  remissed  to  not  admit  she  understands  his  stance     —–     the  wounds  of  the  red  war  are  still  healing,  but  this  is  oh  so  different.     ❛     i  need  no  convincing.     ❜

for years,  there  was  no  one  else  ikora  would  rather  fight  alongside.     and  now  something  has  been  taken  from  them.     not  only  does  their  fireteam  now  lie  incomplete,  but  the  peace  they  knew  and  fought  for     —–     that  so many  died  for     —–     is  gone  in  an  instant  with  the  life  of  a  leader.

they  couldn’t  stand  by  and  do  nothing,  allow  yet  another  enemy  believe  they  are  weak  and  complacent  with  stagnancy.     the  loss  of  the  hunter  has  shaken  her  to  her  core;  she  would  never  believe  herself  to  be  the  only  one  dissatisfied  with  doing  nothing.

the  vanguard  had  prepared  for  a  multitude  of  futures,  but  this  is  not  one  she  ever  predicted.     it  doesn’t  come  as  much  of  a  surprise  that  zavala  would  hesitate  in  a  scenario  they  never  imagined;  she  knew  him  far  too  well.     still,  she  never  imagined  herself  to  be  at  such  odds  with  her  remaining  closest  friend.     it  did  nothing  to  help  the  anger  she  believed  was  put  to  bed,  now  awoken  yet  again.

❛     here  i  believed  i  understood  titans.     ❜     her  chin  raises,  shoulders  squaring  with  a  steadying  breath.     spite  has  taken  hold,  and  she  hoped  it  would  rile  a  response  to  prove  the  audacity  of  a  titan.     ❛     strong.     brash,  but  honourable     —–     i  didn’t  know  they  understood  fear.     ❜

this is an extremely short drabble to tide u over until my Good Big Angsty Drabble is released bc heck mobile.

i like to call this one 'get rekt shaxx' named aptly so bc its a what if shaxx was on the rooftop w the vanguard and he gets rekt lol kbye

he only has himself to blame for this, however, as always; he can't help the way his heart stutters and his breath hitches when he sees the cabal slam into zavala, cracking his armor further, and the cry of pain that escapes his beloved awoken causes his hesitation. inside, to see zavala like this, it is as though he has already failed his lover.

yes, shaxx is a fool for letting his emotions get the better of him in such a crucial moment -- such a newborn mistake -- but they have no light. zavala could be breathing his last breaths. and yet...

searing pain lances through his right shoulder as the cleaver bites its way through his armor and flesh, drawing him out of his dread and into startled panic. it takes him a moment to realize that the deathly screaming is his voice, climbing in pitch as his vision flashes between the blackness of suffocating space within which he was born and the smoky skies of the burning city below. he collapses against the wall, heaving, trying to work with the one lung he has, so concentrated on breathing that he almost misses the hivebane's entrance. popping the head off the gladiator that looms over him, though, is a fairly decent attention grabber.

as they walk acrosd the rooftop, their presence and their light lulls him, powerful and warm, and his head lolls to the side as he dies down to soft wheezing, throat dry and sore. he blinks, however, and the hivebane is gone and he is left with his injured friends and a cleaver in his chest. perhaps now would be a good time to allow himself a little nap...

"shaxx? shaxx!" zavala's voice draws him out from his flickering mind, head weakly lifting to meet that alluring cobalt gaze.

"zaval----- a-ah--!!" shaxx coughs, lurching as blood splatters the inside of his helmet, coating his hud. he leans his head back with a weary groan -- he's too exhausted for this.

"hold on for a little longer, starlight, please," zavala pleads, leaning as far as he can without straining himself, as though he can reach shaxx.

"e-easy for you to say," shaxx huffs, coughing lightly. "y-you've got w-what? broken r-ribs?"

he closes his eyes momentarily as he lets out a stuttering breath before reopening them to look up at the smoky sky. stars peek through the carpet of flames and smoke, between the cabal ships dotted in the atmosphere. reaching up, he takes off his helmet, a tiring feat in itself, and he lets it drop and roll away -- it's clearer without blood marring his vision. it's nice.

"d-did i ever tell you i was born up there?" he asks softly, not caring whether or not the other three can listen. out of his peripheral, however, he sees zavala perk up and stare at him intently.

"i d-didn't, d-did i? n-not a lot of people know; m-most of you just s-see me as this weird looking awoken, huh? but, hey, i don't blame you because past the reef, there isn't a lot to see. debris of colony ships mara still had yet to claim, the blackness of nothing. it gets lonely, you know? but the stars... the stars were my only friends during that impossible journey to earth. every cycle, i woke up alone until i looked out the window and saw them smiling at me; i could hear them sing the most wonderful songs and i could feel each and every single one of their unique shines. i had always thought that... with the light, maybe i was just one of them waiting to come home..."

his voice grows softer as black spots begin to dance across his vision. it takes so much energy to turn his gaze back to zavala, gaze half-lidded as his eyes struggle to stay open, his mind trying to stay alert.

"it took me a while to see that home was with me all along," shaxx finally murmurs.

his head begins to drop after all is said, bobbing slightly as he fights against the encroaching darkness edging his vision; he doesn't register the burst of light around them, the cage being broken as the light is freed once more.

warmth fills his body as the fire within is relit but it almost immediately dies down into cowering embers as he slumps forward, catching a glimpse of zavala scrambling to his feet, voice a muffled yell against deafened ears.

shaxx is, oh, so tired. and thus, he closes his eyes.

          emerald eyes bore molten cores into their souls , fingers tightly wound into fists . ( kept at his side , as if a part  of him  was  afraid ━ no  , do  not  be. they  did  this to you , they ... THEY ━ ) something  impassionately  cleaved  him  in  halves , both  IMPURE &  sullied with vehemence ; indignation ; vindictive venom. hands u n c u r l , to violently punch wall behind.

HI YOU NERDS this is my light scar headcanon for shaxx inspired by @voidstrength bc im lov her and shes cool and has great ideas ok ok

warning though, it’s a bit grisly ---- there is dismemberment and asphyxiation involved and, knowing me, i might go a little too into detail abt it but other than that, please ask me to tag anything else that may make you uncomfortable!! lov u ~ :-*

ok so... the light scar itself is one whole mark but tends to look like two ---- the visible part of the scar starts at the bottom of the right side of his neck and goes all the way down to his left hip, it’s visible on his front and back and is around two inches in width; this part of the scar is the brightest and most sensitive, even while in armor ( so hey, he wears croptops for a reason okay )

the second part is in his throat, it’s his entire windpipe and goes all the way to his lungs, leaving two faint glows on both sides of his chest ( glowing tiddies anyone ) as well as a faint one on his throat as well. this is sensitive as well, not as sensitive as his first scar, but he tends to breathe delicately because of it ---- the feeling is akin to eating a mint, then drinking water and breathing, it sucks pretty much.

mmkay, so where the hell was he in order to get these kinds of scars?? deep space is super great guys. yeah lets listen to dead orbit and go there. lol

during the collapse, shaxx’s colony ship was in the bow shock when the darkness arrived ---- one of the furthest ships at the time on their way to a newly colonized system elsewhere in the galaxy. it was also one of the first ships destroyed by the darkness and since it took the brunt of its attack, the ship and every single one in the fleet were obliterated.

shaxx unfortunately survived the destruction of his ship and was left free-floating in deep space, surrounded by dangerous piles of debris spinning at thousands of rpms. the second he broke free from the initial destruction of his ship, he immediately got hit by a piece of debris that punched his oxygen tank.

after nearly two minutes of running out of oxygen and beginning to suffocate, the explosion of another colony ship sent a much larger piece of debris right towards him ---- it cleaved straight through his suit and body, leaving him with not even half of himself left.

he died a minute later due to asphyxiation and extreme blood loss.

his ghost found him roughly a month after the collapse shortly after the traveler released the ghosts and slipped into its coma. when his ghost revived him, it didn’t account for shaxx’s broken suit as it had found only half of his frozen body and was still fairly new to the whole “living and bringing things back from the dead” spiel ---- immediately after being revived, shaxx asphyxiated once more before his ghost fixed his suit properly. he died approximately seven times while traveling to earth and the entire journey took him roughly fifteen years.

here, owen is known as morgan rivera & is a hunter ( inspired by this ). raising a daunting reputation among the supernatural world, he is both feared & respected by some. there are scary bed stories that some monsters tell their children about him.

morgan is mute. gruesome scarring on his throat & face from his ex-husband.

he is being sought after by a group of supernaturals who try to work with human beings. skeptical ━ as always.

nickname / alias : the hunter. simple, straight to the point.

apropos to the first bullet point, morgan’s eyes appear pitch black ━ sclera included ━ to any non-human ( this includes witches. )

morgan is actually descended from an extremely ancient Nephilim, but the percentage is so small he’s considered 100% human.

his son got turned into a vampire, & morgan helps him obtain blood ( via bags so he doesn’t have to completely rely on hunting ).
