some pre-vanguard ikora hc’s
ikora was first revived in the late-early age of the last city. ophichus gave her the name ikora, and guided her there.
her first subclass was voidwalker. her first use of it was a palm strike. the feeling of energy draining from another and into her was strange, but intriguing and thrilling.
the trek to the city was not a short one. by time they arrived, she had already moved beyond rudimentary control of the light. she was a natural at it.
she was, generally, blunt and distant. she very rarely showed warmth to anyone. she greatly preferred to be alone. she was often quick to judge and make decisions on how she feels.
she very quickly took a shine to crucible. she flourished there, and pushed herself to her limits. her power and strength grew exponentially once she began competing. she exclusively used voidwalker in matches.
she very much did not take to the speaker’s wisdom, and found the concept of guardians everyone would cling to, laughable. it all seemed naive. however, it did foster her own research into the light and its limits, and she did still participate in field missions. through missions, she opened up more to the idea of being a team with other guardians.
the deaths she experienced there sparked an interest in what happens once a guardian dies. while she never let herself die on purpose in the crucible ( a sense of pride overriding the curiosity ) it was something she often thought about.
following her success in the crucible and reigning position as a champion, it eventually became a burden. she rarely got a moment of peace, hounded with challenges despite her shift of focus into scholarly work.
rey was not given to her by her ghost. after becoming a more prominent warlock, she eventually began to look into her past. it took a long time, but eventually she did discover who she once was. rey was her last name. in accepting that person as someone in the past, she reclaimed it and made it a reminder of how far she has come and who she has become – that who she once was is gone. that idea was eventually passed on to her hidden.
during this time she learned stormcaller in an unconventional way to most warlocks when a friend and fireteam member was killed by wizards. this largely undid all progress in her growth as a team member; all she wanted was to be alone, unable to witness other friends die.
she left the tower with little word to anyone, and spent decades alone with ophichus. she developed thanatonaut-inspired behaviours, and studied the light through deaths and how far she could be pushed. she was able to improve voidwalker and stormcaller to unimaginable limits.
she only returned to the tower when she became pleased with her progress. shortly after returning, she began to study under osiris. he taught her the basis of using solar abilities, and she took the initiative to push their limits as she did with the other subclasses.
If we don’t fight for our friends, what are we fighting for?
ikora loves eris. thank u.
CAYDIS.
“ SO . HEALTHIEST RELATIONSHIP , HUH ? ” HE props himself onto the table right next to ikora , arms crossed , characteristic mischief in his optics . “ ‘s just something I heard from a little bird ———- and I couldn’t help but be curious , ‘cause who would’ve thought … ” there’s a pause , a brief intake of breath , something he doesn’t need but craves anyway . “ could say the same about you , though . ”
@voidpower .
‘ with your knack for hearing things you shouldn’t, ’ she sighs in vague displeasure, a simper on her lips, ‘ i should have made you one of my hidden. as for the little bird, well, i’ll have to ask they keep from sharing. ’ he’d interrupted her thoughts, wandering the expanse and causing the stiffness in her shoulders she’s so familiar with, it takes a moment for her stance to relax. the rest is said in earnest. ‘ we always did somehow get along better, didn’t we? zavala is... zavala. it’s not the same. ’
