'Volksmarches' are popular walking events that involve tea stops, prizes, and a noncompetitive spirit
Nothing to do with brands but everything to do with wellbeing and the power of incentives (and starting young)
Great hair day while recuperating from the #Volksmarch AND #archery AND shopping for our #santacon outfits. #curlygirl #cgmethod #cgm #curlygirlmethod My thanks to @swavycurlycourtney and her video on curl clumps, I now diffuse each section MUCH longer than I did before. https://www.instagram.com/p/B4azEazgRFH/?igshid=vd2nzlomydgn

Volksmarch! at Stratford Hall
May 14, 2016
Pay $3 at the gate (reduced grounds pass price) and register at the Visitor Center. Wear appropriate clothing….and have fun!
What is a Volksmarch? A volksmarch is a noncompetitive 3.1 mile (5 km) or 6.2 mile (10 km) walk. It’s not a pledge walk, it’s not a race; it is a fun activity you do with a club, with your family, with your pet or all by yourself. Volksmarching got its name from its origins in Europe. Today there are thousands of volkssport clubs around the world, allied in the International Volkssport Federation, the IVV. This volksmarch is being held by the Germanna Volkssport Association (GVA) located in Fredericksburg, VA.

Who can participate in the Stratford Hall Volksmarch and what does it cost? The walk is open to anyone who wishes to participate. There is a cost of $3 per person for the Grounds Pass at Stratford Hall (a bargain, reduced from the usual $7!) and an additional $3 for anyone wanting IVV credit for the walk.. The Grounds Pass is purchased at the Stratford Hall entrance and the $3 for IVV credit will be paid at the volksmarch start table near the Stratford Hall Visitor Center.
How do I register for the Volksmarch? Pre-registration for the volksmarch is not required.
When you arrive on the walk day, go to the GVA start table set up by the Stratford Hall Visitor Center. GVA members will be there to help you register (everyone doing the walk must register whether you are walking for free or for credit) and will give you a map and directions.
GVA members can also answer any questions you have about volksmarching . If you decide you would like to walk for credit and do more volksmarching, you can buy a New Walker packet for just $5. (It has coupons for free credit on your first walks so it is a real bargain.)
Can any visitor to Stratford Hall take part in the walk? Yes! Anyone can take part in a volksmarch. They just need to register at the start table.
What time is this Volksmarch? Walkers may start any time between 9AM and noon, whatever time fits their schedule. Everyone must finish by reporting back to the finish table (same place as the start table) at the Stratford Hall Visitor Center by 4PM.
Where can I find more information about Volksmarching? The GVA website is at http://www.walkfredericksburg.com/
It will give you information about GVA walks and club meetings.
GVA is a member club of the American Volkssport Association (AVA) whose website is http://www.ava.org/
You will find a complete listing of national volksmarch clubs as well as a listing of walks around the country.
