Voltron Legendary Defenders Season 7 rant. !!!S P O I L E R S!!! Read at your own risk.
I was extremely hyped after the fight with that huge unknown robot, with the ATLUS turning into a freaking ROBOT DADDY TO PROTECT VOLTRON, (Praise the Space Dad) and finding out that the armoured robots were actually powered by an altean, hinting that Haggar most likely is continuing her son’s research, or that Lotor is ALIVE. Yes, yes, There’s that theory, but don’t get me started on that.
I came to tumblr thinking that Maybe I can find some sort of Semblance with the rest of the Fandom, after watching season 7. Instead, what am I greeted by is a lot of angry people talking about the lack of LGBT representation and what-not, talking about how Shiro and Adam’s relationship wasn’t fleshed out properly in this season, and how the creators supposedly ‘killed Adam off’ before the two can talk about their heated break up.
Now, I love gay characters as much as the next person. However, If I can remember correctly THIS IS WAR. In WAR you don’t have time to mourn about your losses. You don’t even know if you’ll be alive to do it. All you can do, is keep on surviving until the war has ended. And that is what the Dreamwork cast and staff of Voltron Legendary Defenders have done, I commend them for giving us a beautiful action-packed season as always.
Put yourself in Shiro’s shoes. How can you wallow in misery about your loss, when the entire PLANET needs someone to give them directions on how to save earth, let alone an entire civilization and you’re the only person who has that experience? I’m betting that some of you guys will crack due to the pressure of having the Earth’s survival dependent on your actions and orders.
Now, put yourself in the directors and the creator’s shoes. What are the key elements that need to be placed in in 13 EPISODES ALONE, with 23 or so minutes each? What satisfactory tidbits can we give to our audience for being faithful to us so far? I think that so far, with the hint that Adam might be alive in episode 13, should be able to keep you guys hungry.
While I agree, there are some bits that should have been properly fleshed out regarding the relationship between Shiro and Adam with a couple of flashbacks or so, the season was a bomb (literally) in my opinion regardless.
Before I sign off, Thank you creators, directors and cast of Voltron legendary defender for giving us yet another action pact season in 2018. I hope that with all the teasers throughout the season that you will flesh them out, and bring the wonderful series of Voltron Legendary Defenders to a satisfactory close.
