Review: Around Midnight by Zarina Macha

This book was terrible. The writing in the first half was horrible, the main character is one of those “I’m not like other girls” types which I cannot stand. We are not here to read about women tearing down other women! Then, she gets into a cringy/abusive relationship with this guy who is just terrible, and he forces her to do things she’s not comfortable with. The way the author describes the girl, I genuinely thought the author was a man. (You know what I’m talking about, how men describe women and their breasts and what not) I couldn’t even finish this book, and I rarely don’t finish a book. But there were no warnings that came with this book, and as someone who has been in an abusive relationship, I really did not appreciate this depiction of relationships at all. Maybe the main character gets out of it? I’m not sure. But I don’t recommend this book simply because of how bad the writing was, both grammatically and story. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by VoraciousReaders Only.
