-Critical Role Campaign 3, Episode 119, "Predathos Awakened"
just vore-do all the way down
Ever since Imogen met Vordo in Predathos I was wondering how much agency they had all those millennia trapped in Predathos.
And then I remembered what the Raven Queen said: that she was chosen by Fate itself. The Raven Queen a RUIDUSBORN. A child of Ill Omen. A woman connected to Predathos (and Vordo?) with a red string of fate. Thinking about how convenient it was that she was drawn to the one god who craved the experience of death. About how convenient it was to have a god who after having ascended from mortality to godhood could do the reverse to protect Vordo’s siblings from Predathos.
And there is Fearne another Rudiusborn between the Sorrowlord of the Unseelie (Shadow) and Morrigan the Fatestitcher. (Between Ethedok and Vordo?)
Vordo, who was swallowed second. The god of Fate caught unaware? Doesn’t seem likely. But I imagine it’s not a huge thing if the god of shadow disappears. But if Fate itself proved helpless against Predathos? Wouldn’t that rally all of them?
So Vordo, did you know? Did you arrange this? Did you sacrifice yourself? Couldn’t you bear to know your brother would be trapped alone in the beast? Did you think your death would lead to the best outcome? Did you combat Predathos from the inside? Did you fulfill Nahal’s wish of death (and matchmake him so he could experience love before his death)? How much did you really see?
Oh Vordo, did you, in the end, choose all these millennia of pain and isolation?
How much of Vordo was still... Alive before being digested?
Predathos had to ration them out, there was a flicker of something after millenia.
Could the devoured gods still think?
Were they waiting to be saved by their family?
