2026 is an anniversary year for the Voya-Nui storyline of Bionicle so I decided to welcome the year by rebuilding Vezok with the pieces I've kept all these years.

Why Vezok? He's very special to me because he's the very way I discovered Bionicle. My brother came home from the Rite-Aid with this set, while I was given a set of paint pens because I saw them on a commercial. Here's the thing... Guess which one I liked more? I feel bad about this to this day, but I kept taking my brother's Bionicle set and playing with it to the point where he just let me keep it.

I learned through the art on Vezok's canister, and through the Bionicle website (which my brother showed me, I think), that there were more sets like Vezok, and my collection hobby (which evolved into a MOC-making hobby) was born.

When I posed Vezok and placed him on my desk after finishing rebuilding him, I didn't realize I had him pointed at this nutcracker set that I'd already had placed there. I'm gonna keep it like this lol

Day 16: Voya-Nui

Took me way too long to realize that Voya-Nui is supposed to be that atoll-looking island in the Mariana Islands and that Mahri-Nui is supposed to be the Mariana Trench

Oh... and Mariana..... Mahri-ana

Every time I look at this picture I think about how Dalu looks like something out of Psycho or whatever

I think this might actually be a Matoran-Nui made from canon sets. That is hard to make, albeit the Voya-Nui Matoran are probably easier to make one work than say the 2003 or 2004 Matoran. Still, it looks awesome, and looks like it has poseable fingers.

Though if they formed a Matoran-Nui with him, would the resistance team now know Velika is a GB? Is there a mind meld involved?

I kinda always wanted to see the Voya Nui Matoran as Toa. Sure they’d have the same masks as the toa Metru, but I’m alright with that. They’ve mutated toa and changed matoran’s masks before, so it’s not like they’d have to be the same exact masks as the toa Metru. Anyways I’m 100% here for a Toa Voya verse where all the Toa Mahri died retrieving the mask, and the Voya Nui matoran get transformed to finish what they started. 

It would be especially kickass to see Dalu break the “Feminine” type casting of Toa of Water, seeing as she had anger issues and was the warrior of the resistance. In fact, pretty much all of the Voya Nui matoran broke the mold of their predecessors; we had an Onu-Matoran as the leader, a tinkerer ta-matoran (who was best friends with an Onu-matoran mind you,) a nervous and gloomy Le-Matoran spy, a down to earth and realistic Ko-matoran, and a riddle speaking Po-Matoran. That’s like, the coolest idea for a Toa team yet.

Plus, can you imagine the kind of incomplete, misshapen Toa that Matoran repaired by Karzahni would’ve become? Those would be some cool sets if you ask me. 

And speaking of Velika (the Po-matoran,) how crazy would it have been to realize, uh-oh, that little matoran from 2006 who is now a toa was secretly a great being the whole time and is now going on a murderous rampage all over Spherus Magna!! Because, outside the toa part of course, Velika did all of that. It would have been a beautiful tie-in to having the Great Beings return to the universe as the new bad guys. And just think if Velika did manage to kill Axxon, Brutaka, Miserix, Helryx, Artahka, and any one of the others as a Toa. Heck, he already killed Tren Krom and Karzahni. Crazy shit, that Velika.

tldr; The Voya-Nui matoran more than deserved Toafication. A lot of us were getting tired of seeing the same 6 Toa, be it the Mahri or Nuva. The resistance fighters should’ve been toa.
