Happy Birthday @fault-classic
pieces from the design process for princess Ashley. (not in chronological order)
I didn’t want them to look too radically different. having very similar outfits and hairstyles was always paramount, but it took a fair amount of workshopping before things started to come together. also had to make sure they were consistent with sprite mockups and model sheets, which I’m not sharing at the moment.
this approach led to a sort of leap-frogging, where I’d make some breakthrough on one design and then have to retrofit it to the other, going back and forth like that. over the course of things, Ashley lost the ponytail, the multicolored hair, the bushy sideburns… I think this was in service of making the design more focused, those details always felt a little overwrought.
I still haven’t figured out all of the finer details of Ashley’s outfit. it’s mostly the sleeves, I keep changing up things like glove length and colour palette. but for my purposes, those elements don’t matter much. They won’t show up on a tiny sprite anyway, so they’re not of immediate concern.
@fault-classic voyager-rpg concept art... fanart.
out of the new concept art pieces this one seem to inspire me.
A tiny sketch I coloured recently.
Its been ages since either of us have said anything about Voyagers, and there have been some pretty big changes to the scenario since Jess, the writer (@sifwithagun), started the first draft.
You can now choose to play as either a prince or princess, for one. The princess design is pictured above, albeit without the pink scarf. This decision is almost entirely cosmetic, though there will be some minor differences depending on which Ashley you decide to play. (Think in terms of the difference between MShep and FemShep, for instance.)
But that’s only scratching the surface. To be honest, if you only had the older posts on my art blog to go on, you’d come away with a really skewed impression of the scope and focus of the game as it currently exists.
The thing was, for a while we didn’t really have an optimal platform to post anything about Voyagers. We didn’t know how best to utilize the Patreon, twitter’s image compression made it useless for digital art and screenshots, and tumblr had just gone through a mass exodus of users.
This led to a big backlog of changes and developments that were never made public, and we’ve been looking for a good opportunity to share them for a while now. We’ve since given it some thought, and realized tumblr is still probably the best platform for that, in spite of everything.

@sifwithagun and I have just launched a Patreon for the Voyagers RPG. No posts yet, but we’ll have something to show you soon enough!
EDIT: False start. Couldn’t do anything with the Patreon.
some armor designs I worked on while waiting on commission client.
I lied. Here’s some character busts based on old sketches I cleaned up and coloured.
Assorted sketches from the end of 2017. Mostly monster doodles drawn during D&D... and one Yolei
