BELLE:

This was the closest Belle had been to her children in weeks. 

The thought alone made her want to just run right into the idyllic little house without any plan except getting her children back. Only thing that was stopping her was one of the agents at her side, close enough that they were brushing shoulders. If she started forward, they would grab her and haul her back. Probably for the best. 

There were a whole score of people here: snipers, police, RAS agents. They had the house surrounded.

Would it matter? If Karen took off into a void, it was very likely that she’d never see her children again. Gem’s intel had only been good once. They had a single shot at this. 

“Remember: the leader can poison with a touch and Karen has the voids…we don’t know what else we’re walking into,” Belle said. 

The group leader nodded.

“On my count,” they said. “One, two, three…”

Spies and Stroopwafels || Voydanna

Summary: Karen has a special mission for Joanna.

KAREN: 

So the MAFIA had their list of potential RAS agents. Now came the actual investigative work. There were loads of ways to go about collecting the evidence they needed, obviously, and Karen intended to follow all breadcrumbs. 

But Bill had approached them with a very important idea. 

“The best way to draw the RAS out,” he said, “is to give them what they’re looking for.” 

Bait.

And what did the RAS want? That was easy. They preyed on the helpless, convincing young, struggling magicks – many homeless or even in trouble with the law – that the RAS was the ticket to salvation. Meanwhile, what they really did was leash and muzzle them. Slap them on a registry. Control them. It turned Karen’s stomach to think about one of their mates having to put up with all that but… well, if it meant shutting RAS down? It was worth it.

There was one obvious person who Karen knew they wouldn’t be able to resist.

So Karen had taken Joanna out, just the two of ‘em!  They went cavorting through the streets of Amsterdam. The weather was cold, but sunny and nice. 

“Hey, you try stroopwafels yet?” said Karen. “We should grab a stroopwafel.”
