((We're back, baby! The ask box is open again and I'll be making my way through the requests :) Let's kick off the new year with some VriskaRose!))

“You’re sick,” you state bluntly to the blonde lying on your couch under a blanket, looking half-zombified.

“I see those detective lessons really paid off,” Rose replies, not missing a beat even with her eyes glassed over and her nose running.

You sigh and cross your arms, wanting her to know just how much her snot is inconveniencing you. “What did you get sick for? I was totally going to take you somewhere tonight.” Well, you’d made some very loose plans in your head, but now they’ve been dashed before they could really develop.

“You’re not usually this awful,” you point out, and although she’s completely unappealing right now you can’t help sinking down onto the couch next to her. Feeling sort of generous, you place a hand on her side for a reassuring rub.

“Yes, being sick has a way of throwing my genteel out the window,” she sighs, extracting one of her revoltingly girly handkerchiefs from somewhere under her blanket and wiping her nose delicately. “You better buckle in for a few days of listening to me trying to cough up the contents of my lungs.”

“Gross,” you mutter, your tone extra venomous to distract from the fact that your fingers have found their way into her hair and are stroking it a bit too gently. “You better not go breathing on me or anything.” You adore her under all of your snarkiness, and you’re sure she loves you behind her impenetrable sarcasm. Still, you don’t want her snotty cold germs.

“I’ll do my… hh! Hhkt’shuhh! Best,” Rose replies, pulling herself into a sitting position that soon sees her slumped against you with her head on your shoulder. “You know, you’ll be safe from my germs if you’re in the kitchen. Making some tea, perhaps? With a little lemon and honey in it?”

“Oh yeah?” you snicker. “What’s in it for me?”

“We can watch National Treasure tonight, although if you want me to sit through the special features again it’ll cost you a call to Panera to order me some soup.”

“…” You really can’t argue with that. Such a deal is too good to let pass by. “Fine. Chicken noodle?”

Rose smiles, and peels away from you so that you can escape to the kitchen.

After an intense night of Cage flicks, couch cuddling and watching your girlfriend go through a very impressive amount of cough drops and handkerchiefs, you wake up tangled with her still asleep body and a plethora of blankets. Rose had crashed halfway through Con Air, and you didn’t think you’d be able to carry her to bed, at least not without waking her. So you’d curled up with her and gone to sleep. Now that you’re awake, you remember why you never sleep on the couch. You’re too tall for a start, and your neck and back feel knottier than a sailor’s. Although you don’t remember much from the night and assume you must have been asleep for most of it, your head is sore as though you haven’t slept at all. Sore and stuffy. An inconvenient realisation hits you. Ugh. Cold germs sure are efficient.

You sit up and massage your forehead with a yawn. You might make yourself some tea or have a hot shower while Rose is still out cold, and then you’ll probably feel normal again. You start to rise from the couch but freeze when a sharp tickle stirs in the back of your clogged-up nose. You sniff and slowly bring a hand up to your face, feeling your eyes narrow involuntarily as the itch builds. “Hn…”

Rose stirs next to you and yawns, but you’re too busy being on the verge of a sneeze to look at her. “Mordigg,” she yawns, voice stuffy from a few hours of built up snot. The couch dips as she sits up. You can tell she’s watching you. “Are you -?”

“Hh'PSHHH!!”

“ – okay. Bless you, Vriska.”

You give a sort of grateful sounding hum and grab a handful of tissues from the box she offers you. It feels like the sneeze sort of unblocked your entire head and its contents is now all over your hands and leaking out of your face.

“Did you catch my cold already?” Rose asks with a hint of disbelief in her voice as she brushes your bangs back to feel your forehead. “You’re warm.”

“I’b fiiiiiiiide,” you insist, batting her hand away and blowing your nose. “Worry about your own germy self.”

Rose smirks. She always smirks. “Alright then. I suppose if you’re in good health, you shouldn’t have any trouble indulging me in the part of Con Air I missed last night?”

You can tell she’s trying to make you feel better, and it’s annoying, but not as annoying as usual. So, only grumbling a little, you turn the TV back on. The two of you end up making it through the rest of the movie and the special features without anyone falling asleep or coughing so loud that any of the content goes unheard. And when she offers to make you tea this time, you only try to dissuade her a little bit before accepting the offer.

It's a careful line to walk, you've noticed.

Where you can push hard enough to settle this bitter, ugly hatred burning under your skin but not so hard that you actually hurt her. Kanaya pulls Vriska's head back by her hair, bites down to suck blue blood from her veins, and you can feel Vriska quiver around your fingers. 

"Is that," Vriska gasps, licks her mouth, and you watch her tongue swipe away the mixture of red and green fluid that coats her face, a by-product of the damage she has wrought before Kanaya pinned her down, "All you have, Lalonde?"

"Not hardly," you say casually. Too casually for the slap you deliver to her thigh, for the handprint you leave there. "Is this all you can take? I was under the impression that the mighty Vriska Serket could give as good as she got. Do you think this is what you deserve?"

She growls, surges forward, but she's brought down by Kanaya's fiercer growl. You take the opportunity to push her knee up towards her chest, straddling her thigh and angling your hips down just right. You grind down against her slick wetness and watch her shudder and feel Vriska's nails bite into your hips and yes, you think this will do quite nicely.
