I am Brock, leader of the Pewter Gym and master of rock-type Pokemon. It has come to my attention that relatively few of you have challenged me, instead opting to travel onto Cerulean City without defeating my gym. I think perhaps you might need to train your Pokemon a bit harder in order to take on my unmovable Pokemon. Therefore, I am offering you an opportunity to train and earn a strong new team member at the same time.
It has come to my attention that a group of trainers have taken to Nugget Bridge just north of Cerulean. Until recently, it has not been a problem but word has reached me that a criminal has taken to hiding behind this strong group of trainers and he has stolen an actual nugget from a nearby bank. Your challenge is to beat this group of five trainers and this petty criminal and return the nugget to Bill who lives in the lighthouse just north of Nugget Bridge on Route 25. Anyone who successfully completes this challenge will earn a desirable Pokemon from me and another more precious gift as well which will be revealed upon your completion.
The only catch is that this challenge is timed. I can’t expect this criminal to keep hanging out at Nugget Bridge forever, eventually he will take off with his loot. So you must defeat him or attempt to by Friday night. Good luck trainers.
OOC NOTE
This prompt is not mandatory and open to all members of the roleplay. In order to get credit for this prompt, it must be turned by 12am EST on October 24, 2015. The reward for the successfully completed prompt will be a Pokemon off your character’s wishlist and a special surprise gift relevant to our next event, it may be completed alone or in pairs. Make sure your prompt is tagged with vroadprompt2 in order to be eligible to receive a Pokemon.
This prompt is also designed to alert trainers to Team Rocket’s existence, as a Grunt stole the nugget. If you take this challenge in pairs, there will be two Rocket Grunts at the end of Nugget Bridge instead of one for each of you to battle. As you may have noticed, there is also a slight time discrepancy between this prompt’s due date and Brock’s due date. You have until the 24th to complete your para, however in order to be eligible for the second, secret prize it must be started by Friday the 17th at 11:59 PM to keep in time with our next event. Good luck! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the main.
As part of Prompt 2, the following areas have been unlocked:
As of now, you should have all received your prize Pokemon from my laboratory if you stopped by my lab while you were in Pallet Town and took me up on my challenge. If you have not received a prize, please send me some airmail as my feeble old brain probably forgot I had an incident with a Psyduck earlier this week too and I’m still confused. I’ll send one of my assistants off with your Pokemon in a hurry. Don’t despair if you’ve missed your opportunity for a challenge though! My good friend Brock should be issuing another in just a few days.
What would be their D&D alignment? How might it come into play?
Sofia’s alignment is Chaotic Good. While she has a strong moral compass and believes in doing good, she has little regard for following the rules when they don’t line up with her own views. She’s kind and good hearted but she’s also a wild spirit that values her freedom and will do anything to keep her new found personal freedom.
As someone who is chaotic, seeking her own pleasures - in Sofia’s case it’s seeking adventure - is something that Sofia sees as a right, but her good side means that she won’t ever purposely tread on others to get her own way as they have every right as her to also be happy. This is especially the case with close friends. Sofia is loyal and won’t ever risk a solid friendship unless she really had to, and as reckless as she can be, she would never do anything that could jeopardise another persons life.
But because she holds her own personal freedom above all else, she has been known to be selfish, even though she’s the type of person who generally looks out for other people too. It’s just that sometimes she’s unable to see the big picture sometimes. However, this kind of selfishness tends to be small things like, who gets the last slice of pizza and cutting lines to get somewhere faster. She also generally has a distrust of people in positions of authority, especially if she feels like they’re using that authority to hold her back. This is one of the many reasons why her stint in law enforcement didn’t pan out well.
Promises mean a lot to Sofia and she has never broken a single promise. She also views honesty as something that’s important and rarely ever actually lies about anything big. At most, she jokes around about situations but if questioned will always come clean and be straightforward about the situation. Violence is never a first option with Sofia, unless you count battling, but if you push her hard enough or back her into a corner, she will lash out physically until she feels she’s no longer in the position she was previously in. It’s not about being in control of a situation , but rather because she feels her own freedoms were being infringed upon and she needed to regain control of herself.

Who: Kelsey Burgess, Darla the Horsea, Misty Waterflower
What: Kelsey’s first attempt at training her Horsea
When: April 23, 2013
Where: Cerulean City Gym
“Horsea, use water gun!”
“Hor?”
Darla turned to look at Kelsey, clearly confused. “I said, use water gun!” Kelsey repeated impatiently, pointing at the target she’d oh so kindly set up for her new Pokemon. What was wrong? Maybe the Horsea was expecting her to call it by name? If that was the case, she’d have to wait an awfully long time- naming Pokemon had always seemed a bit strange to Kelsey, and she didn’t even like the name the sisters had chosen.
“Kelsey? I don’t think she knows that move”
Kelsey whipped her head around, startled. She hadn’t been expecting anyone back so soon- the sisters had just left to go shopping, after all. She would have gone herself, but she figured she had some serious training to do. As soon as she caught sight of who it was, she realized her mistake. Of course Misty hadn’t gone with them; why would she? Perhaps the youngest Sensational Sister loved shopping as much as any girl would, but the Gym was open. Maybe Daisy, Lily, and Violet would leave in the middle of the day, but even if she wasn’t even technically in charge of the Gym, Misty certainly wouldn’t.
“Oh” was all Kelsey said at first, too baffled to think of anything else. Wasn’t water gun one of the first moves a Horsea learned? If this one couldn’t even use such a simple move, it had to be even weaker than she’d thought. “Isn’t that right, cutie?” Misty asked, crouching down at the edge of the pool with a warm smile on her face. “Sea!” The water pokemon agreed, swimming happily over to the youngest Sensational Sister and butting her head gently against her hand, nuzzling in. Kelsey gaped. This was the most affectionate she’d seen her Pokemon with anyone, ever. Shouldn’t it be treating her like that? She was her trainer, after all.
“Why don’t you try Bubble instead?” Misty suggested, looking back over to Kelsey. “It’s a good move, and she should definitely know it” “Horsea, sea!” the water pokemon agreed, clearly relieved that someone knew what was going on. “Uh, alright. Use Bubble?” Kelsey tried, pointing once again at the target. She was pleasantly surprised when the tiny little Pokemon turned obediently towards the target, a stream of bubbles shooting out of her mouth and in the general direction of the target...
...Only to be let down when the bubbles fell several feet short of their target, some having gone depressingly astray. “Sea, sea!” The little Horsea said happily, clearly pleased. This was going to be harder than she’d thought.
TAGGING → David Moreno and Phoebe the Natu. Featuring Ethan Morales
TIMELINE→ September 2008- Early Morning
SETTING → Mauville Institute of Technology
SUMMARY → Several weeks after getting Phoebe and moving to Mauvile for college, David finds that his habits of overworking himself aren’t something that Phoebe agrees with. Chaos ensues.
David hadn’t been at MIT for too long at all, really. Not in the grand scheme of things- not just yet. And yet, in that time he’d already integrated himself into life on campus as thoroughly as possible, making sure that he knew everyone who might possibly be a good connection to him later, and then trying upon trying to impress them, on top of keeping up with his coursework.
And the coursework alone would have been an effort. The classes were far more competitive than anything he’d ever imagined, the workload would intense, and he was loving every minute of it. High school had been challenging at times because of the course load he had picked- because he’d found ways to make it challenging.
Classes here were challenging by nature, and it was probably one of the best things he’d ever gotten to experience.
Phoebe disagreed.
It had been a slow realization for David, when it came down to it. For the most part, the Natu was happy to follow him around, perched on his bag, or shoulder, or even his head at times and accompany him to the library or to the lab. For the most part, the pokemon was okay with the fact that David was hardly ever in his room, because there was more work to do than he had words for.
It was only on nights like tonight, that the pokemon had problems with it.
It was two am, and David was up still, pouring over papers that he’d gotten together. There’d been a seminar just three days ago, it had been a discussion of research opportunities available for students. Most had been interesting, things that David wasn’t the most interested in, but that he’d have taken part in just for the experience.
And then there was a professor who was trying to recreate the conditions of the moon in the lab, and David wasn’t about to drop the ball on that.
So his spare time had been devoted to it. Every waking moment of spare time was dedicated to putting together the best possible research proposal for it, so that maybe, just maybe he could get his hands on it. He could deal with upperclassmen that doubted him because he was the youngest person in his class and the lab, if he got to do it.
And if that meant he was up until four am because he was behind schedule on it? Well, then he’d be stay up until four am. It would hardly be the first time.
Except Phoebe had stopped the staring that meant she was trying to see the future. And she’d woken from the nap she’d taken, only to perch onto his shoulder, which David was happy to ignore. When she nipped at his ear, seeking what he could only assume was attention? It had been simple to pat her a little, but tell her no- he didn’t have time to pay her any attention because he had work to do.
And she’d lasted about ten minutes before she’d gotten revenge by perching on his head, talons clinging to his hair before she jumped, tugging sharply at his scalp.
“Ow! What was that for!?”
“Natu!” The pokemon protested, obviously intent on a lecture that David couldn’t understand as she dropped to the ground and hopped back up onto the table.
“I fed you before we came here and I brought snacks.” David continued, “You cannot be hungry already.” The pokemon gave a disdainful look to the stash of candy he’d brought for himself, giving her trainer another displeased sound, and pecking at his hand when he went for his pen. “What?!”
The pokemon gave another unhappy cry and promptly settled in front of David, directly on his stack of papers. “Oh hell no, no girl I am not stopping work. Nope. You can’t make me. Now shoo.”
David reached for the papers as Phoebe jumped to his shoulder, but before he could get another word in edgewise, bright blue light flashed through the study room he was in.
And the next thing he knew, he was landing on his bed with a shocked cry. “What the fuck?” He demanded about the same moment his roommate, Ethan demanded the same as he shot up in bed. “Phoebe what the hell?”
“Natu!”
“You cannot force me to go to back to my room, that’s against the rules!” He sputtered, “And you left my bag behind bird brain!” The pokemon disappeared, reappearing a moment later and dropping the bag on David’s legs, looking pleased with herself. “That’s not what I meant!”
“Dude, I hate to be that person,” Ethan began, “But unless I’m still dreaming? You’re getting bossed around by a pokemon.” A pokemon that had hopped over to David’s desk where he kept a bag of trail mix, and was nudging it towards him.
“Shut up, man.” David hissed as Phoebe began doing the same with a water bottle. “And I wish I was dreaming dude. Holy shit”
“A four pound pokemon,” He continued, “That’s less than a foot tall.”
“Aww, shut up man.” David threw a pillow at his roommate, who caught it, tossing it back. “Alright. What do you want from me?” The Natu gave another unhappy sound, before perching on the bottle of water. Slowly, realization dawned, “So you want me to what? Eat? Drink water?”
The questions earned him the odd bobbing that David was learning served as a nod for the Natu.
Reluctantly, David reached for the bag of trail mix. “Okay, okay. So I know my diet is shit,” He continued, “But I don’t think you understand. As a scientist I am fully qualified to say fuck the laws of nature, common sense, and everything I learned in biology classes, to better indulge myself.” David paused for a beat, “The amount of candy I eat and energy drinks I have? That is a very carefully crafted concentration of sugar and caffeine designed to substitute sleep.”
“Dude, you’re arguing with a fucking Natu,” Ethan protested, “And you’re loud.”
“I’m trying to get my point across!” David shot back, though he lowered his voice obediently “Listen, Phoebe. I appreciate what you’re trying to do if you’re looking out for me? But I am a scientist. Sleep is a sign of weakness. We have evolved past that point.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re not a biology major because-”
“And while I totally get you trying to be nice and make sure I get proper nutrition or whatever, I also have the bad habit of locking myself in libraries and have for years. I don’t think I’ve eaten three square meals a day in years. It’s just not how I function.”
“And really it’s a good thing you aren’t one cause you’ve obviously got no idea how humans work. It’s a good thing you only work with your crazy rocks. “ Phoebe took the break in David’s speaking to add her own protest to that and the boy sighed heavily.
“Alright, listen. I’ll make an effort to get like- four hours of sleep a night a minimum? I make no promises but I’ll try to sleep. And compromise on two decent meals a day because otherwise my mom will complain about me not using my meal plan.”
“Really, it’s a good thing your rocks are in space so that you can’t hurt them either.”
“But in turn I’m going to need you to let me pull crazy ass hours when I need to. You can remind me that most people need to sleep but you can’t literally teleport me to bed.” He stressed, “Compromise. Okay? Can we work with that? I mean, you’re still getting fed even when I’m not. You’ve got no reason to complain!”
“I do!” Ethan chimed in, this time throwing his own pillow at David. “Such as ‘it’s late and some of us actually like to sleep’. That. Right there. Should I submit it in writing?”
“And you can peck Ethan whenever you want,” David countered, ducking the pillow and picking it up to throw it back at his roommate before he offered Phoebe a hand. “Deal?
Ethan just groaned but David decided that Phoebe jumping on his hand mattered a little more- and was about as much of a ‘deal’ from her that he’d get in return. At the very least, it’d be a start.
