My musical journey of the King Crimson's discography is far from over, there are still a couple of things I have to listen to, but the last studio album of theirs I've checked is Thrak. It was their 90's comeback, which managed to combine the heaviness of Larks' Tongues In Aspic with the melodic gifts of their Beat. Surprisingly, it worked. Of course, they also added some modern technology to the mix that transformed this edition of King Crimson into a Red version of the band on steroids. The instrumentals on Thrak, such as this one, were particularly affected by that approach which favoured density. Still, they did not let the group became a flying brick wall, they occasionally calmed themselves down, only to revolve much stronger than before. It looked as if they tried to tell the alternative rock collectives popular back then that they actually originated the quiet loud formula.

A two disc live set featuring Double Trio performances from Mexico City and New York City. Note how the former was mixed by Fripp and is mostly instrumental whereas the latter boasts more vocal tracks and was mixed by Adrian Belew.
