Are you kidding me ?!?
I for one am very glad that not all the Roman texts Athelstan translated for king Ecbert were on war strategies but also beautiful Roman poetry, like the ode we hear in “Paris”. It’s Ode XI by Horace and contains the famous words carpe diem; live here and now because you never know what tomorrow might bring is probably how most of us interpret it. I’m glad Ecbert decided to use the ode to comfort Judith instead of some passage from the Bible.
