To Do
You know, random thoughts and stuff.
Okay so I am freaking out right now, so much stuff that I need to do.
Alright listing time!! Adventurous sounds and text! Engage!! I have lost it. Maybe.
Anyways
1. Assignment 2 for Learning and Cog presentation, get notes and slides from K 2. Assignment 2 reading and note taking for Lang and Lit Assignment 2 3. Prof Ex task and update the portfolio 4. Visual Art shite, journal and artist, plus update the tags to ensure easy to find information 5. Create a little page that outlines how to find information with tags and various information entailing what it is about. (Maybe, if I don’t randomly die first) 6. Haircut appointment. See how that goes.
So images of my other vessel, also another open vessel
here the image shows transfer and use of under glaze.
Again, underwhelming but I guess it was a good process to actually go through to get a new experience. So yeah.
I AM A HAMSTER!!!
Images from ceramics
These are vessels. Not sure about how they are vessels but I guess they’re open and non functional? I have no idea about how I got away with this but okay.
I have already done the process because of the cert 4 in 2013 but I guess that it was an okay process to reiterate what I learnt from before. However tehy called it under glaze, not sure about the terminology but I think it’s basically slip with pigment. Similar to what I used in the cert 4.
Hehe I made a rabbit and just wanted to put that in there because I could.
Anyways, different processes that I wanted to actually get out I guess, removing the under glaze and I got to also use transfer, it was underwhelming.
I guess I got over the whole clay thing because I’ve done it before so yeah, wasn’t all that interesting I would have rather done wheel throwing. Now THAT would have been fun.
Ceramics Artist
Clare Twomey
“Born in 1968, UK. Lives and works in London, UK.Clare Twomey is a British artist and a research fellow at the University of Westminster who works with clay in large-scale installations, Sculpture and site-specific works. Over the past 10 years she has exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate, Crafts Council, Museum of Modern Art Kyoto Japan, the Eden Project and the Royal Academy of Arts.
Within these works Twomey has maintained her concerns with materials, craft practice and historic and social context.
Clare Twomey’s installations have the social and historical context in which the installation is created as their point of departure. Often they only exist within these frameworks. A number of her installations disappear or perish in the course of the exhibition period as part of the work. Often the onlooker’s mode of behaviour is conceptually included in Twomey’s works. This, for example, applied to the artwork Conscience/Consciousness (2003), in which Twomey had covered the floor of the gallery with very thin ceramic tiles which broke when trodden on.Clare Twomey is actively involved in critical research in the area of the applied arts, including writing, curating and making. She has developed work, which expands the fields’ knowledge of larger scale installation works.” - Clare Twomey Profile

I got to meet Clare Twomey in 2013 during the ceramics conference during one of the lectures. I guess I didn’t pay much attention to the lecture cos I don’t remember what it was about... OH!! It may have been after the Gerry lecture where he had no idea how to use the computer and was having difficulties with it, then decided to hover the mouse over the ‘help’ button until someone came over to help him.
He added to the hilarity when he made mention that his son would have called him a retard.
Getting off track, Clare Twomey, I asked about how she was able to produce art and selling it. I had a mindset that when I produced an art piece that I was too precious with it and that I could not part with it. Clare replied that she was not precious with her work because she originally started producing works for money. It took me a while but I got there, not being precious with my work.
