A rare Yellow-throated Warbler was seen on the shores of Lake Champlain during the first week of a December. It is a treat for birders to see this beautiful bird. Hopefully it has now headed south to find a more suitable wintering spot. This species typically spends the winter in the southern part of Florida, the southeastern part of Texas, and into Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean islands. This weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count. These Red Crossbill photos were taken by @jc_birdsvt earlier this week in Chittenden County, hopefully the birds stick around for the weekend. The first picture is a female and the second the male.
