So You Want to Tumbl?
⬇️ Simple Tips!! ⬇️
1. You can customize your page!! It’s easier on desktop, but you can change the color or layout of your blog. If you know how to code you can do some really cool stuff too. (again only shows on desktop)
2. It’s normal to interact with posts that are older. Some posts that are 10 years old are still going around. You’re meant to explore and find things fans have made, don’t hesitate!
3. Comments and likes are fine, but they do not spread a post around the same way it does on Twitter. Fans usually reblog and use notes/tags to share comments! Like this:
Tags are a must either way! If you post something without tags or text, it goes into the void 💔 no one will see it unless you already have followers. Be sure to tag properly, so other fans can see the things they like as well! You can filter and sort tags, so play around with it to find fan posts and accounts.
4. When you reblog, the post will remain on your acc even if the OP deletes or edits the post, or deactivates. So be mindful when posting and rebloging! The OP (and anyone else) can see your notes. If you don’t want to comment anything, you can also simply reuse tags in the original post in your reblog. (which helps organize reblogs on your own acc) Censorship (using emojis or spelling names differently) is not necessary because it makes posts harder for fans to find <3 be free, they can’t find you here (unless you’re a machiroon, I’m so sorry)
5. The algorithm is not the same as Twitter. You won’t be shown things you want by just interacting, you are in control of the media you find. Search for what you like and what you want to see, then follow the tags or accounts that post those things <3 For this reason, it’s not appropriate to hate or be rude when commenting within a fan space.
That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to have your opinion, just don’t say you hate books when you’re inside a library. Don’t use fan tags for hate. Your post/tag visibility isn’t as random as it is on twitter, it will be seen and is easily searchable among other fan posts within the tag. Make a separate post, use different tags or don’t use any tags. Also, do not send hate to anyone using dms, ask boxes, or comments. This website makes it really easy to curate your experience, so block, mute, or unfollow. I encourage you to focus on the people/media/art you enjoy and want to support/discuss!!
