Finally both these 😍
(They’re a bit longer than Vulcan’s but…)
Thinking about how big pointed ears on Vulcans might actually be logical because having long extremities is a common desert mammal adaptation for dealing with the heat (bigger and longer extremities lose heat to the environment more rapidly than smaller and shorter ones).
Here's an example from the leporidae family:
Arctic hares have relatively small ears and limbs which are tucked close to their body. This helps them conserve heat in arctic temperatures. Compare that to the jack rabbit, a desert-dwelling species, which has extremely long and big everything to help it stay cool in the heat:
Now imagine if Spock had ears like that. In comparison, the tapered point seems quite logical!
Excuse me?!? There is no reason to attack me like this?!???

My Vulcan ears! 🖖❤👂
Star Trek TOS + Winnie the Pooh (Part 4)
I’ve rewatched “The City on the Edge of Forever” (Star Trek: The Original Series, season 1, episode 28). It’s an episode in which Dr McCoy went mad and jumped in some strange time portal. Into the Great Depression. And so, Captain Kirk and Mr Spock jump after him to rescue. I like time travelling episodes – they are always so funny. I mean what’s the only “You’ve noticed the ears” scene worthy of?
Captain Kirk: You're a police officer. I recognise the traditional accoutrements.
Mr Spock: You were saying you'll have no trouble explaining it.
Captain Kirk: My friend is obviously Chinese. I see you've noticed the ears. They're actually easy to explain.
(A crowd is gathering.)
Mr Spock: Perhaps the unfortunate accident I had as a child.
Captain Kirk: The unfortunate accident he had as a child. He caught his head in a mechanical rice picker. But fortunately, there was an American missionary living close by who was actually a skilled plastic surgeon in civilian life.
And, of course, Jim is womanizing, as always, but not very successful that time…
