I will never understand artists who complain about people calling them “talented” as opposed to skilled or some other word that makes them feel more validated for the hard work they put into learning how to make art. It kinda feels the same as people who whine over being told happy holidays instead of merry Christmas.
It isn't undermining the time you put into making your art. No one who says you're talented is ever trying to do that. They're trying to appreciate the talent you have for taking the time and having the patience to learn how to make art, and that is a talent! Not everyone has that dedication or passion! They might for other things, but not for making art, not the way you do. Just take the compliment and stop making yourself miserable.
