One of the biggest parts of being unapologetic and it gets vastly overlooked, is being unapologetic with yourself. Sometimes it’s easier to put on a boss show for the outside world than it is to look yourself in the eyes. In a lot of ways I think we all deserve Oscars for some of the performances we’ve put on. This surge of people coming into their own lately has been so incredible to watch, but some of it is yet another face we give the world. For whatever reason it’s easier to break down walls with others – we can cry with our friends, be open about our troubles and traumas, love wholeheartedly – it’s easier when there’s another energy to work alongside. What so many have yet to overcome is how to be unapologetic with themselves.
When is the last time you forgave yourself? Gave yourself permission? When is the last time you held space for yourself? Having these almost uncomfortable moments with yourself is Shadow Work and self-care, but also an incredible way to build a healthy relationship with yourself. Whoever said talking to yourself was weird obviously had a hard time looking themselves in the mirror. What you present to the world is curated to how you want them to perceive you – what you see in the mirror is what you get. Be raw and open with yourself any chance you get – it’ll be uncomfortable at first, may take a few tries, but I promise you your eyes are waiting to look back into themselves to see wholly the incredible human you are.
