Just to clarify, because I’m a bit confused. When we are applying do we have to attach the piece we want to be in the zone with our application? Or do we apply, and if accepted, THEN begin work on the piece we want in the zone? Thank you!

The latter! We just want to see an example of your work for the application (it doesn’t have to be hermitcraft related, just some of your art) and then if you’re accepted you begin the actual zine piece :D
