I kind of want to make a video essay about adaptations of ficitonal works, specifically in the Thunderbirds franchise. In particular, why the 2004 Thunderbirds movie doesn't work, but Thunderbirds Are Go (2015) does.

But I'm not sure my thoughts are particularly interesting or groundbreaking to other people. And, I have absolutely no experience making videos or video editing.

But I kinda just want to yap about these two different adaptations and this seems like a fun way to do so lol

Thunderbirds Chibis!

I made TAG chibis!

Edit: Omg! I made these on my laptop but the colour looks a little funny on my phone, trust me, the Tracy's won't look sickly yellow irl, and John and Gordon won't have such radioactive hair.

These were made using FlossCross and with this template from pintrest. They are far from perfect and could use a little tweaking so any feedback is much appreciated! My hope is to make them into embroidered keychains lol. So, introducing prototype 1, Brains!

He's not finished yet. I need to trim the excess fabric, stitch them together so one is the front and one is the back, and attach a keychain. I went to my local craft shop today but unfortunately they didn't have any keychains :( They had a bunch of other similar things, but not what I was looking for. So, for the time being, he can't be finished. But, I will post the finished version soonish!

Also, does Grandma Tracy wear any outfit other than her purple jumpsuit in the show? I don't think so lol but I could be wrong.

Anywayyyyy, my plan is to see if any of you lovely lot would be interesting in buying any? I'm doing a fundraising challenge for a charity this summer. I'm doing quite a mix of things, hosting a bake sale, selling second hand items, and, hopefully if people are interested, selling some handmade keychains (of which all proceeds will go to the charity). But I don't know if anyone would actually be interested in that. If people are then I'll make another post, sometime next week probably, with more info.

He's finished!

Took me longer than I expected but that's mostly because I was collecting supplies. I went looking at my local craft shop for something to connect mini Brains to, but there wasn't anything suitable. I ended up having to ask my mum to drive me to the nearest Hobbycraft lol. There were a few suitable options but I eventually settled on swivel lobster claw clasps. Now I can attach him to my keys, or my bag, or whatever I like :D

This is such a non issue, but I wish I had a bigger passion for drawing. Like, I have so many ideas for TAG fanart that I would make, but I just simply do not have the skills. The answer to that problem is just to practice, no artist is simply born with talent. However, I'm not particularly passionate about drawing. I enjoy doing it, but only to an extent, and definitely not to the same degree as I enjoy writing.

I need to voice some thoughts lol

(TW: discussions of homelessness and death)

Ok so I volunteer each week at a food stall in my city centre to hand out free food, hot drinks, snacks, and amenities to the homeless and anyone else who needs it. And I really enjoy it. Primarily I think it's a great thing to do and to help support those in need, but also, it gives me a lot of fulfilment and I've made a lot of friends with my fellow volunteers.

However, it can be tough sometimes. I started at the beginning of this academic year (so September), and during the 1st term I started recognising a lot of our regulars and learning a bit about them. We kinda have 2 main types of regulars. We get a lot of older, more elderly people who aren't homeless, but just want tea/coffee, maybe some soup, and mostly just like the opportunity to have a chat. And of course, we also have our regular homeless people.

But since coming back from Christmas holidays, I've seen a lot of our regular older people, but not many of our regular homeless. And that's scary. People die on the streets, especially over winter, and this is especially a big problem in this city. And you obviously hope for the best. There are local homeless charities, and apparently one of our regulars was actually able to get housing, which is great. But unfortunately not everyone is that lucky.

There's one regular in particular that I am worried about. Her name is Chi, and she's in her 20s (so not much older than me). And she is an absolute angel, always so bubbly and appreciative, always made me smile when she came to our food stall. But I haven't seen her since Christmas. Apparently some other volunteers did see her once and had a chat with her, and apparently she's hurt her back and has limited mobility as a result. They also said that she was a lot more somber, and not at all her usual bubbly self.

And I don't know. There's only so much our little volunteer group can do, but I just wish there was more we could do. And it's upsetting, there are still other regulars that we just don't see any more, and it is a very large possibility that they have unfortunately passed away.

I don't know. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about all of this and just need to vocalise some of them for my own sanity. But I know what we are doing, whilst limited, is still making a difference. Yesterday we had a really successful bake sale and were able to raise a lot of money that we can put towards sleeping bags, so that's nice!

Anyway, if you've made it to the end, uhhh thanks? And don't forget to support the homeless in your local community! They get a really bad rep, but are actually wonderful people. All of the bad experiences I've had at the food stall have been from a few non-homeless people who try to disuade us from doing our volunteering (or street preachers trying to convert us lol), but everyone else is lovely.
