Vulthoom
One of my favorite gods, I really love his design and proud of how he comes out. (Oh yeah, he is a beautiful man.)

I think Cthulhu mythos is more fun with less straight up "gods"
Cthulhu is a possible alien giant wizard from an earlier version of the universe or another one. , Or its a "big brother" type fake person by an entire race of bengs that made up a singular "leading figure" for humans and other cultists to more easily rally around. Honestly perhaps more impressive than a "god".
Chaugnar Faugn is a feeding appendage of something vaster that has possibly gotten too independent . A rogue "hand of god" that might eventually cause problems for the collective
Glaaki: A giant sluglike thing in a British lake that's spines turn people into undead slaves it then forces to inscribe information and create tomes including the The Revelations of Glaaki collection. Was the meteor it came in a crashed spaceship? Is it some malfunctioning piece of technology doing its job of recording and collecting information using humans as a replacement of the crew and lost other "machines"? Possible "Roadside Picnic" type of thing ?
Y'golonac is imprisoned somewhere and sometimes managed to possess people (which affects bodies) and form a composite entity of both minds. Seems has in past it or someone managed to spread fake extra volume of The Revelations of Glaaki that allows it to possess readers, and seems hosts maybe able to transform others like a vampire... . Might only be a "god of depravity" due to being insane from imprisonment and overwhelmed by physical sensation. Or they are the eldritch equivalent of a gross pervert on internet who is in it for shock value. Should be noted the host that started a cult was a small business owner. Would all hosts do the same or did some megalomania of the human host seep in?
Vulthoom: a charlatan ala Wizard of Oz with alien technology, and if Glaaki's tomes are to be believed is a child!
Hastur....well possibly but a lot of thing are named "Hastur" so you gotta be specific. And they and King and Yellow might not even be connected.
The Dweller in The Gulf: a slavetaking monster, link has a great take.
The Crawling Chaos: a 'messenger of gods": perhaps might just be a soul who's all shared bodies and incarnation across time and space are self aware of place of universe. It is many things and many creatures across time and space and some of those things can take over bodies, or make copies of self in other ways. Randolph Carter's tricks to the extreme?
Tsathoggua: claimed to be a god but uh... well seems to mostly be exchanging knowledge to sorcerers in exchange for not having to get up to get its own meals. Luckily Earth life is not its favorite, but hilariously you'll want to summon something tastier than you when going to meet them.
And the closest things to Western culture idea of gods...most uh seem imprisoned by bigger fish or even afraid of mortals...
Más Vulthoom Yandere AU 😍
a certain....simp....has sent Vulthoom a death threat, and I'm now scared, shall we all sleep with one eye open.
ANYWAY RIP Vulthoom, I WON'T be at his funeral
@d-apperc-adaver lemme know if u notice anything 😉
love the uniquely internet experience of reading a weird fiction story from 1935, looking it up, and seeing a defunct mons game app drew it as a sexy lady
Vulthoom.

“I let you beat me”
"You have conquered for the time, but I bear no rancor toward you. I blame my own carelessness...All my methods of persuasion have failed; but it matters little. I shall yield myself to slumber, though I could remain awake if I wished, defying the gases through my superior science and vital power. We shall all sleep soundly... and a thousand years are no more than a single night to my followers and me. For you, whose life-term is so brief, they will become—eternity. Soon I shall awaken and resume my plans of conquest... and you, who dared to interfere, will lie beside me then as a little dust... and the dust will be swept away."
--Vulthoom
You know, Ramsey Campbell having the Revelations of Glaaki state Vulthoom is merely a child member of their race( "The Inhabitant of the Lake") makes a lot of sense.
I bet his kind doesn’t even need to sleep for thousands. of years that often when matured. Baby just needs his naps and wants the humans to think he’s a big kid.
This of course makes Vulthoom an even more unreliable source of information about themself in their story.
