Up-close and a unique perspective on the Vega rocket for Arianespace’s VV07 mission, which launched earlier this evening, September 15. Europe’s small-payload launcher delivered PeruSat-1 into orbit, as well as four SkySat Earth observation satellites for Google.

Liftoff occurred at 9:43 EDT from the Guiana Space Center near Kourou, French Guiana. Standing more than 98 feet high, the three-stage, all-solid propellant rocket offers 490,000 pounds of thrust at liftoff. Today’s mission marked the first Vega flight of 2016, and the seventh since the rocket was introduced in early 2012.
