favorite thing about them

You know what’s hard about Sasuke? It’s difficult to say what my favourite thing about him is because ... this kid is just draped in tragedy and misery. My overwhelming feeling for him is always sympathy and a need to look after and protect him because he has witnessed such severe trauma. Even saying his resilience or determination are my favourite things become a bit questionable because they led him to make some very peculiar decisions. Look, I’m not saying the boy did anything wrong, but I’m also not saying that he could have made better decisions. The time when you can finally sit back and smile at him is after the Fourth War when he doesn’t go back to live in Konoha and travels, giving himself time to understand the world and himself, and even when he had whatever ties and responsibilities in the village, he didn’t force himself to stay there. He put himself first and that’s a proud moment. 

Oh. And his Dino toy. Obviously. 

least favorite thing about them

Again, difficult because there isn’t anything I don’t like about him directly. I don’t like what the fandom does to him sometimes, from my own experiences, using him as someone to project onto isn’t okay. Shipping him with Sakura is also not okay and pairing him off in an illogical relationship for the sake of adhering to the heteronormative standard that everyone must be married and happy and all women must be mothers and all men fathers despite them being mentally and emotionally incapable. I don’t know why authors do it? Is it really appealing to see a traumatised and abused boy be suffering for his whole teenage years only to end up ‘happy’ in a marriage a few years after? JK did it to Draco and Kishi to Sasuke. It’s just stupid. 

favorite line

“Now vanish with the roar of thunder.” has got to be one of the coolest lines of the whole series, teamed with the most badass of jutsus. 

“These eyes see the darkness quite well.” 

“These are good eyes, I’m quickly getting used to them Brother.” as well, just because the way he says it. umph. 

brOTP

I mean, was this guy bros with anyone? I’ll give credit to Juugo for swearing to protect Sasuke, that was nice. But really, my Sasuke ships are all intimate relationship ships, that boy was friends with no one. I’ll give mentions in here to SasuSui & KakaSasu though simply because they aren’t OTPs but make my lil shipper heart happy. 

OTP

It has to be SasuNaru and I don’t feel like there is much explanation needed. Sasuke may not have loved Naruto, but he felt something for him that became a motivation for him. He said often that Naruto was his only friend, his most important bond, the whole series was basically dedicated to them being soulmates, they got gay married by the Sage Of Sixth Paths and so on and so forth. 

On equal or if not higher ground than SasuNaru is ItaSasu, and AND this isn’t an incest thing, I’m NOT shipping them sexually. But, Itachi loved Sasuke more than anything, he refused to kill Sasuke because he loved him so much and in turn destined himself to be a criminal, hated by .... pretty much the entire world, all for Sasuke’s sake. Would it have been kinder for Itachi to just kill him instead of plaguing them both with what would be Sasuke’s life filled with trauma and severe psychological issues just because he didn’t want to kill him? Selfish was he? Yeah probably. But everything that Itachi did he did with Sasuke in mind.  

nOTP

Ugh. SasuSaku. It’s detrimental to both of their characters and glorifies abusive relationships. Sasuke tried to kill Sakura countless times throughout the series and yet somehow still ends up with her?

How can you move from, "Was she having fun in her little make-believe fantasy of true love? As for me, I have absolutely no reason to love her and likewise, I can see no reason why she would love me." to marriage? It’s an injustice to both of them.

If we learn anything from Naruto it’s that people bond and become closer through experiencing the same pain and Sasuke deserved someone who could empathise and understand even a tiny amount of what he had endured from Itachi’s hands, and Sakura deserved someone who didn’t try to murder her. 

random headcanon

Sasuke’s body was covered in scars from training with lightning because elemental control is hard and lightning is powerful, countless times he messed up and faltered and caused his body to endure intense wounds and burns from being electrified over and over again. The majority of them were on his left arm and when Orochimaru saw them for the first time he insisted that Sasuke visit Kabuto regularly for him to help heal him. 

unpopular opinion

He isn’t simply an angsty little fuck boy who is oh so super sexy and dreamy and here for us to romanticise and lust over. He’s an extremely complex character who deserves so much more than horny fangirls.

So the Escape The Fate song Picture Perfect was written about Itachi through Sasuke’s eyes and I think that’s fucking cool.
