audacity(free) is great for editing audio clips. If you're trying to make music you can pirate a copy of fl studio. Fl studio is a absolutely amazing program. But the downside of my approach is that it's fucking illegal..

yeah i already use audacity for stuff, and i’ve messed around with FL Studio - but i’m looking for something that’s a little more focused on recording / mixing / editing, and less on synthesizing music? like, i’m mainly trying to record / EQ / edit / layer / etc. guitar tracks.
