Divided by A Common Interest
While it's not necessarily wrong to like almost anything Disney, admittedly the whole 'going to Disney theme parks' thing isn't even unique to Anglophone Disney fans, but I feel those in non-Anglophone Disney fandoms don't have the same urge to the same extent. Especially when they could easily get their kicks from reading Disney comics, if a good portion of continental Europe is any indication. It may not be any cheaper in the long run, but it's a good budget friendly way to indulge in your Disney fandom. Similar things can be said about listening to Radio Disney, interestingly it's still a thing in Latin America.
You could be a Disney adult and not spend so much money, but then again there might be Disney adults who are already doing this. I get the impression that the Anglophone Disney fandom is pretty different from its continental European counterpart, it's not only not so focused on comics given it's continental Europe these days where Disney comics enjoy the most popularity there. But also because it seems more predominantly female, there are no official numbers to the gender demographics of whoever reads Disney comics in Europe. However, I have a nagging feeling that the English-speaking Disney fandom is different from its Italophone counterpart.
The former's fixated on Disney films, programmes and theme parks while the latter's largely content with comics and animation, to go further with their differences Disney princesses have more importance in the English-speaking wing while Mickey Mouse and friends are emphasised more in the Italian half again due to their constant presence in comics. It's not that there aren't any Anglophone Disney fans who aren't aware of what's going on in Disney comics at all, but it's kind of interesting to think that it's only in continental Europe that Donald Duck works as a superhero and Mickey Mouse works as a detective.
There's even John Quackett masquerading as Fantomallard (Fantomias's much catchier though), that I have a nagging feeling the Italian Disney fandom has more males in it might be why WITCH had to be instigated. When the creators of WITCH did their research, they realised that teen girls (at the time) weren't interested in the further adventures of Donald and Daisy Duck. Rather they want to relate to female characters who're just like them, so they created the likes of Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin instead.
If this was the Anglophone Disney fandom, this would be largely filled in by Disney princesses, not that WITCH lacks any presence there. This goes to show you that the Anglophone and Italophone Disney fandoms are divided by a common interest, they have some overlap when it comes to some Disney characters and media but are generally distinct communities. It's something almost nobody in the Anglophone Disney community brought up, in which the Anglophone Disney community is largely distinct from its Italian/continental European counterpart.
There certainly are Disney adults in continental Europe but their objects of fandom are pretty different, more comics-orientated with more male members in it though I don't have the numbers for it. But when you have young boys being entertained by Donald Duck's superhero adventures and adult men who are nostalgic for this, the continental European Disney fandom would inevitably differ from its Anglophone counterpart in some regards. Continental European Disney adults certainly do enjoy going to theme parks themselves, but this is largely sustained by their reading habits.
When Donald, Mickey and gang tend to appear in comics more often, it's only logical that more people would be drawn to their funnybook (mis)adventures which is especially the case with the continental European fandom. Some would even think of them as comics characters first, despite their origins in animation. The Anglophone Disney fandom is the one that's probably the most infamous online, but one that's more orientated towards animated productions. Not just the Mickey and Friends productions, but also any full-length animated film. Not that this doesn't exist among Italian Disney adults, it does to some extent.
But like I said, it's a community divided by a common interest. It's something that I noticed online, but one that needs to be brought up more often because it's clear that the continental European Disney fandom's not like its Anglophone counterpart in other regards.

So I'm writing a fanfic
I've always been a writer, savvy with words and figurative language and the like, and I've always wanted to publish my own book. But, as I went along with the ideas that crowd my head continuously, I noticed that writing up a strict plot line and then publishing a book wouldn't take weeks, but months, and even years. I was jumping the gun, so I decided to set aside my original projects, and begin a fanfiction project.
I have a fanfiction.net account, known as MissAsia. On here, I post chapters on fanfiction, including my own original characters and the like. As I writer, this feels like the lowest tier for me, so that way I can clime the ladder and finally get to that point that I want to be. Plus, writing your own little story on one of your favorite shows is pretty freakin' fun.
So to the few followers that I have, and of course, the people who see this outside of my follower's dashboards, I'll explain my fanfiction's plotline in the most detailed, but spoiler-non-containing form possible.
Basically, it's a W.I.T.C.H. fanfiction, revolving around the new Guardians of the Infinite Dimensions.
The summary is as follows: "Quill Rodriguez and her mother had recently moved to Heatherfield, after the abrupt divorce her mother had with her husband. This caused a state of uneasiness, which led them to flee their old venue of residence. Now, a simple week later, Quill begins to make friends, and a hidden destiny begins to unfold. . ."
The summary says it all. It's slice of life, mixed in with supernatural and fantasy aspects. I don't think there are many fans of W.I.T.C.H. on my follower's list, but probably in the fandom tag. If you're interested in the story, please feel free to go snag a look at Q.U.E.E.N., my fanfiction.
Thanks!
