My boss knows I’m pregnant - a few of my coworkers does too, but I’m not sure when I should “make it public” on my workplace.

I will not make it public on Facebook before I know if it’s a boy or a girl. I think. But there’s at least 8-10 weeks until then and I would like the work perks that comes with being pregnant. Like not having patients that needs isolation. That would be nice. I’m not afraid of catching anything, I’m just so Ugh. I hate putting on all the equipment. It’s literally just because I’m lazy.

Another perk is not having aggressive and violent patients - and also I could leave work 2 hours earlier some days and instead spend them on the hospitals pregnancy yoga class.

Decisions decisions.

Today I Learned: how to use Heroku to host my app.

Today, we had an assessment on React-Flux flow. The assessment went well. After the assessment, we started Day 1 of our capstones!

I was able to stay on track today and get the user auth set up. The CSS took some more time than I thought but it's getting there!

App Academy: Week 8, Day 2

Today marked the first day of capstone projects. Although it was a little intimidating working without any directions at first, by the end of the day, it felt extremely liberating and enjoyable to plan out my own course of action and to see it fall into place.

As for what I implemented today, I first set up a basic user authentication system, including a fully CSS-styled user signup/login root page for my app. In addition, I also created a users JSON API to use within my React-Flux flow. In addition, I set up some basic routes with the React Router. Last, I created a few components for my user profile view: a Profile component and a ProfileHeader component. Although I don't have much on the page yet for either of these components, I built up the basics of the react flow that will allow them to function today and will hopefully make quick progress on getting them into fully functional form tomorrow.

All-in-all, today was a great first day for my capstone project!

I’ve got a much better understanding of how this project will work. I’ve also got a pretty sick backend coming along, and it’s almost done.

Today we started our first day of our final projects which we have nine days to complete. For my project I have chosen to clone the music service, SoundCloud.

For the first day I had planned to complete user Authentication as well as the basic user and song models. After completing this I implemented Backbone and began putting together BB views, collections, and models. Tomorrow I plan to start doing user show pages as well as the ability to follow users and have their music show up on your feed.

Project Ramblings 

I suppose I'm content with fixing auth, but I'm still at a lost on how a model extracts data when creating content an adding to itself. The jQuery code examples require more examination so I can add the public_id to a new table upon a success upload. In backbone I could do it with asynchronously but with Rails not so much...

Today I'm focusing on making an upload page. I think the end of the day will have me focusing on making an edit page to apply filter. Hopefully at that point I can slap on every other filter too. 

Let's rejoice though. 5000000 seconds ago I entered a world I romanticized about. it's surreal to be in this environment and program, because everything I imagined has been strangely spot on - amazing people, a crazy city, an industry of creation. Everybody here are making cool things, from scratch. To see everybody develop from scratch is nuts to me. We're all from such different backgrounds, but now we're here at a place like this.
