How is Julie and the Phantoms, I'm liking the concept?
Heyyy,
Oh it's great. The music is undeniably the best part. It's just so good and well-integrated to the plot. The choreography is fantastic too, it gets your knee bouncing for no reason. There's one scene by a mirror that was like YEAAAH and sometimes they include background pedestrians. It's so fun, musicals are great.
And the lead's a grieving, black girl. Her hurt is taken seriously and her passion is intertwined with that loss. Her growth and the fact that you get to see her become happier? It's just pleasure and dopamine.
The humor is very mid-2000s nickelodeon but with some adderall to ground it. It never has you doubting the strength of the relationships it's built on for a laugh though. You can tell the rules surrounding the jokes and it's much better for it.
There's a romance. It's a good romance. Just the right amount of will-they-won't-they. Won't say anything more about it.
It's just a good and fun show. Watch it when you have a minute, Anon. You don't even have to binge it, one episode every week can be good enough, like television pre-streaming.
