Maddies' Sick babies

Drabble Prompt: Caretaking

Characters: Maddie, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.

Maddie had taken care of sick kids before, Jojo had spend a whole week in their spare bedroom while she was sick with the flu one summer. Sick alien children was different

For example, normal medicine didn't always help, a note book labelled ‘kids medicine’ was now full of scribbled down notes about medicine doses and results and how each kid racted to them.

Or how their instincts would act up. With Sonic losing quills or pulling at them in sick indeed stress while not allowing anyone to touch him by curling into a ball. Tails curling up under his bed to hide and whining softly whenever he was left alone for too long, ears pinned back. Knuckles would hoard his brothers into his room, even occasionally growling if he felt particularly upset. 

What was the same though? The clingy cuddles on the sofa, bundling up a sleepy and sick kid in blankets and carrying them to bed, sleepless nights soothing a coughing fit or flue insides nightmare.

Sonic builds a grave

Drabble Prompt: Grief

Not long after arriving on earth Sonic made a small grave stone pile by his old cave for longclaw, made in a similar way to the ones he had briefly seen in the village.

When he moved into the Wachowski house he kept going back to visit, leaving fresh flowers on the grave and talking about his new home with his first mother with a sense of guilt and worry that he might be replacing her.

Eventually Tom and Maddie asked where he was going and he shyly brought them along. Maddie was very moved and helped him clean it up and even bought sunflowers to grow by the grave. Tom sat down and talked about how he promised to look after Sonic and protect him as well as Longclaw had.

The Almost Marriage Marriage

Drabble Prompt: United

Characters: Tom and Maddie

They nearly didn't get married. They were struggling with paying off Maddie's tuition and their new home that they had inherited from Tom’s grandparents. Maddie and Tom talked about maybe putting off getting married until they had more money and were settled, even talked about just signing their marriage licence and then having the wedding later on. When the residents of green hill heard the young couple's worries they stepped up.

Local florists donating flowers, their favourite restaurant planning the catering, a farmer offering up his barn for the reception, everyone coming together to help pitch in here and their. Maddie's sister came in with her own old wedding dress, wanting it to go to Maddie and helping with the alterations. Tom’s parents paid for all the legal fees. Wade offering up his DJ skills.

In the end it was a beautiful and chaotic but Tom and Maddie wouldn't have had anything else.

Summer romance

Drabble Prompt: Injured

Characters: Tom and Maddie Wachowski

Maddie realised she had feelings for Tom after a summer accident. Maddie, Tom and some friends were hanging out by a lake with a few other families. They had made a rope swing that hung from a tree that overhanged the lake a few weeks before and were taking turns on it. Tom was pretty reluctant to try it out but Maddie was excited. She tried it 3 times before the rope snapped and she fell hard onto the lake edge.

Tom quickly pulled her to the side and took charge, ordering his brothers to run up the road to get their parents and call for help. He carefully laid her head in his lap, asking one of the girls for a towel to dry her off a little while talking calmingly to Maddie. Once Tom’s parents and another parent made it over they took her to the clinic to check her out and he stayed with her the whole time- Maddie wasn't hurt, mostly just winded and bruised but she always remembers how quickly Tom jumped in to help her and held her hand in the car to the clinic. That's when she realised she was falling for him.

Blowing off steam

Drabble Prompt: Rage

Characters: Knuckles, Tom, Maddie and Sonic.

A few weeks after moving in with Sonic and his family Knuckles goes to the junkyard to blow off steam, at first he would sneak off but after the owner complained to Tom they sat down and talked about it.

Knuckles wanted to go somewhere he could smash or break things without worrying about hurting someone by accident, Tom agreed to let him go as long as he also did yoga or meditation with Maddie to cool off if he could instead. Sometimes Sonic would come along to keep an eye on his big brother and walk him home after.

Father - Son Bonding

Drabble prompt: Connection

Characters: Tom and Tails.

Tom, in an effort to bond with Tails, bought him one of those little DIY model kits and helped him build it. Tails loved it and asked if they could make more, so from then on Tom would take some time to sit with Tails on the weekends and build some model kit’s from planes to cars or mecha’s.

Eventually Tom built a shelf unit in the boys bedroom for Tails to display his models on, the first they ever made is in the living room for everyone to see.

Sonic has a growth spurt

Drabble Prompt: Growing Up

Characters: Tom, Maddie and Sonic.

After living with the Wachowskis for a while Maddie noticed that Sonic ate a lot- like a lot all the time. He would sneak food during the night, hide it in his room and even taking food from the trash on occasions. Eventually Maddie sat him down to ask about why he was hiding food instead of asking for food. 

Sonic explained that he was just still hungry and got hungry a lot, but he didn't wanna bother Maddie or Tom. He had gone without food for a long time and he could deal with being a little hungry every now and then. Maddie wouldn't have that, instead She spent a few weeks tracking Sonic's health, eating and energy levels until she figured out a good meal plan. Which included a snack box easily accessible with high protein healthy foods on the kitchen counter.

In the following months Tom noted Sonic putting on a bit more weight, his fur being softer and brighter and most notably growing taller. Sonic was nearly at his waist now. He was truly growing up.

A Mothers connection

Drabble prompt: connections

Characters: Knuckles and Maddie

He has a lot of respect for Maddie, with his own mother being the tribe's healer and priest he finds a lot of similarities in the two of them; both act as moral guides for the younger members of their tribes, both take care of their tribe's health and both are natural leaders.

He naturally finds himself spending early morning sat outside with her talking about his dreams, what he fears and asking for advice.

Even though she died when he was still young he says that she would have been good friends with Maddie. This obviously made her cry.
