Sooooooooooo, many years ago, like, back in the end of the 20th Century-many-years-ago, I created and played a character called, “Johnny Suave” at a restaurant in Chicago called, Ed Debevic’s. Ed’s was a Retro Themed Diner where we all played characters and were supposed to be wacky and kinda rude and dance on the counters. It was a wild@place to work. And Johnny Suave was that guy at the end the bar in every city who just thinks he’s God’s Gift! All Ego! Ridiculously confident. Wearing a Hawaiian Shirt open halfway down my chest and tight pastel pants!! My usual opening line was, “Alright, alright, alright! You have no idea how truly lucky you are!!! The Suave is here!!!!!!!” Anyway, on a whim tonight I tried Googling the name. And this is what I found. It’s been over 20 years since Johnny and I parted personas. But apparently he kept living a life somewhere, quite apart from his creator! I guess it’s good to see he’s still working that old Suave magic!! (Swipe to see an actual vintage Polaroid of your humble narrator embodying Johnny Suave, “The Suave” himself!!) #trans #performer #goofball #server #wackywaiter #wackywaitress #serverlife #transgender #pretransition #eddebevics #eddebevicschicago #johnnysuave #character #retrostyle #vintagefashion #diner #chicago #improviser #transwoman #storyteller #autobiography (at Ed Debevic's Chicago) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNz1DDcnVhH/?igshid=fx2cpa66pyoe
