I'm now on 🟦sky! Twitter as some new TOS that I'm really not happy with regarding AI. Best of luck out there to all of my fellow artists.
So as a beginner wanting to start off small and what not, are there any rules and such that I absolutely must do/follow or can I just sort of make it up as I go along, so to speak? Thanks!
Hi wafflebox!
You’ll actually get a lot of controversy over this particular question. Seriously. Opinions range from “I DO WHAT I WANT!!!” to “You have to use exactly 397 hairs from an albino wombat that were collected in a non-harmful and environmentally friendly way” and everything in between.
My personal stance on this one is pretty simple.
Make sure you get permission before casting a spell. If you’re casting it on yourself, you can skip this one, since you already gave yourself permission. If it’s on/for somebody else, make sure they’re ok with it. If they are not, don’t do it. The only exception to this is cursing - which should be done rarely and with caution. If at all.
Be careful with your wording. I try to make sure there’s always a loophole for escape, and a kill switch in case things go wrong.
If you use ingredients, try to get what is recommended (unless you’re making your own spells, where there are no recommendations). If you can’t get the recommended ingredients, find something with similar properties and associations, to get a similar end result.
Have fun with it! One of my most powerful spells was fueled by laughter - because the ingredients literally went up in a giant poof of smoke. The dog knocked a candle over into the powdered herbs. WHOOSH!!! Laughed so hard... And every time I laughed for days after, it got stronger.
Expect mistakes. And surprises. Like herbal fireballs. XD
The rest of it? I personally make up as I go along. You’ll find your own set of rules soon enough.
