A little experiment because my brain needed a break for grinding away at the same pattern. It's based off the traditional Japanese pattern bishamon kikko. Created by interlocking three layers of hexagonal rings. The proportions are a little off so it's a bit too tight, but it gets the idea across. I plan to eventually make a blanket with it (not in these colors I just grabbed some random yarn that I didn't care about). This technically should be doable in knitting as well, but the interlocking layer would probably be a lot more fiddly to work with all the stitches being live at once. Could probably work around that by making the ring split and sewing it together after feeding it through.
