Pencase
Iran, 19th century
A pencase (qalamdan), carried tucked into a shawl tied around the waist, is the symbolic badge of the scribe's vocation. While some scribes served the general public, preparing documents for those unable to write, others worked for highly educated employers, providing the artistry of their pen as a well-compensated professional service. Lacquered pen cases, made of papier-mâché or pasteboard and decorated with water-based paints, became very fashionable during the nineteenth century in Iran, reflecting the influence of European artistic traditions. This pen case with rounded ends and sliding tray shows European-style figures, while the high quality of the decoration attests to the status of the scribe.
Molcar pen and pencases!!
I didn't remember I have this italian gadget too (it's an organized pencase with all you need for school inside).
It was in a dark corner of a wardrobe in my old room. XD

8.2.20 Sunday Slouch (4/100 days of productivity)
Another rainy weekend-day means more Netflix and Prime binging. While browsing this morning, I realized that the Twilight Saga was added back to prime, so naturally that is what I’ve decided to watch. It’s perfect background noise for work. Since I’ve seen the movies multiple times there’s no reason for me to get sucked in, so it’s easier to stay focused.
Are these rainy days warnings of Autumn on the horizon? Even though I love hot weather, I love cold weather fashion. Can’t wait to break out the sweaters and wool socks! (Let me stop before I get ahead of myself)

review by John Slamson
One often neglects the maintenance of everyday objects, even pricy ones. But pens require some care—a luxury fountain-pen with lacquer and gold obviously needs attention, but an entry-level pen needs protection as well if you want it to last.
The pen case is the starting point of basic maintenance. It enables to avoid scratches on the pen, but also protects your clothes and assorted things from possible ink accidents. And, of course, it becomes a valuable object in itself with its own aesthetic value.
