I was actually planning on animating tgat specific scene. but you guys can wait a bit longer so I’ll just. Spill th beans here.
But very very basically:
The infection/radience/light was at the back of his mind after he left the Colosseum of Fools but he pushed it aside as he thought it was some silly dream.
However, it soon got brighter and unbearable to listen to when Oro started winning in their spars, which Gonar did not like one bit as he really does not want to be seen as weak but also It also fuelled his fear of death even further. Slowly but surely, the infection was starting to affect him in the waking world, as the promise of becoming stronger from that light got to him. The infection process was slow as he kept resisting it from fully overcoming him but his attacks were becoming more erratic and unpredictable by the day, and Oro notices this. Gonar began to win more after that but it made him more exhausted after. But he kept going as the availability of winning made him ecstatic.
Until one night, The image of him winning again and bringing back the title of Champion of Fools started spiraling in his head. Oro notices his quiet mumblings and when approaching Gonar he notices his bright orange eyes. Oro was, obviously concerned and terrified, his sparring partner is getting infected. Believing that he may be in there somewhere he tries to shake him off of the haze. But the voices from the light were louder.
And then Gonar started attacking and they fought. Well, when i mean by “fought” i mean Oro defends himself while Gonar is wildly punching and hitting his nail over and over again to the point it might actually break.
It got bad enough that Oro does his dash slash against him as a last resort in hopes he cuts it out but was too hesitant about it because he really did not want to kill him. The time where he isn’t alone anymore gets infected because of his selfish desires. Gonar does survive and wake up from his haze, but now he has a big scar across his chest.
Technically that’s that. I know you didn’t say what happens afterwards but I wanna ramble on what happens afterwards because their relationship sparked after that whole debacle so don’t read this if it isn’t what u want. But Gonar cried a lot after that ahahaha especially when Oro tried to patch him up. A lot of reassurance and opening up from Gonar and Oro as they both were really closed off,especially Gonar he bottled that deep.
It’s not clear what happens afterwards as I am very indecisive. I wrote down in an old doc that Gonar does go back to COF to fight again and suggesting Oro to come see it but understands if he doesn’t want to because of their deal of “you leave me alone after you’re done”. Though Oro does go. I had an image in my head that Oro saves him from dying (again lol) in the COF and they team up to fight and win and yaaaaayy they just. Go home? Yeah sure why not I am not satisfied with this outcome but it’s the best for me. But it’s also because I really want to see them fight together, even though they spent their entire arc fighting eachother LMAOA😭 . Though I have an entire Pantheon room based off them but that’s enough for now.

Crackershock by Qbomb - the lyrics and the person singing sounds like it’s coming from Oro’s pov trying to make Gonar get out of the infection. Especially at the end when all else fails he just slashed his chest hahaghahh
