I put this under a cut cause it’s some angry rambling about story writing with a lot of swearing and I don’t want people to read that if that don’t want to.
Holy shit. Every time I think the sylvari couldn’t get more fucked up, they manage to surprise me yet again.
We’re currently playing through Gharavain’s story missions and he’s going down a different path than Wynoc. Namely he picked the Priory mission where you see a flash back to Riannoc’s and the Vigil mission where you fight Waine. And like holy shit.
The way all the characters talk about Waine is horrifying. The poor kid is like what eleven? twelve? At most? When Riannoc brings him along on an incredibly dangerous and life threatening quest. And then gets blamed for Riannocs death after he chose to flee in terror for his life! Like holy shit! That’s a literal child! What the hell was he supposed to do?
And then and then! You run into adult Waine, who clearly has not been living a great life, partially due to the choices he’s made but clearly also due to the trauma he endured. And it’s like ok cool he and the Commander will fight, the Commander will win, take Caladbolg and leave. Simple. NOPE! After you have clearly won, Waine keeps fighting and instead of finding a way to deescalate, you just murder him in the name of justice. And then talk about how “it’s what he really wanted, I could see it in his eyes, he wanted to die because of the terrible thing he’d done.” What justice is there in that? What justice is there in killing a man for the actions he took as a terrified child? Fucking none.
God the sylvari are fucked up.
Nation Leaders of The Resurrected World
I'd like to compile the nation leaders here because it looks good and I think it's easier to find it here rather than looking into their respective nations. Although, if you want to know more about them and their nation, I suggest go for it 👀✨
Basically them in a nutshell:
◈ Boreal | Veil: 😶💦 ◈ Geronto | Avarice: 😒🍵 ◈ Goldenflow | Nova: ✋😑🤚 ◈ Lucidial | Justine: 😏👌 ◈ Nightral | Waine: 😐❔ ◈ Occirly | Van Ciel: 🤣🌂
