ooc. warming up with some emmruby ft @wakesleft :>
thinking about ghil yoinking emmrich as a gift for inara.
are you nicholas' type?
@lunarscorching. i love haleth and her ability to shoot back at nicholas right off the bat. she’s not afraid to show, or say, what’s on her mind. also: she’s a knight. he wasn’t lying when he said he dreamed, once and not along ago, of a knight kidnapping him somewhere unseen, and uncharted, and in the faerie world. that comes with loyalty. a shaking, obsessive loyalty. total and complete devotion.
ideal getaway: abduct him. convince him to leave the Church behind for a secret garden with a lake where a fresh-water siren once drowned a man. draw for him impossible things: how she sees him, and herself, and the world, only absurdly and wonderfully exaggerated until it isn’t them at all. the sun is setting, the illusion is done, and she takes him back.
@wakesleft. nicholas shouldn’t delight in emmrich’s occasional ruffled, acerbic bites, but i think watching that side of them come out from a very put-together and preened appearance tickles a spot for nicholas. he LOVES someone who doesn’t bend to other people (or to him). better yet: someone who can throw shade without the offender ever even knowing it. emmrich would have that down in spades.
ideal getaway: magic. ensorcell him. whether deep in the bowels of the necropolis or elsewhere, stow him away in a pixie light corner of the world where ghosts can dance for them—a whole troupe. an entire ballet. read his fortune even if that isn’t possible and spout like a teapot all the savory, misfortunate things waiting for him. pretend he’s a great, dead count from some faraway land, an old lover who lost his memories. emmrich is reminding him.

VERY SPECIFIC MUNDAY ASKS // accepting! @wakesleft
🎀 Say something nice about your character.
I have quite a few, but let's pick Asharen and Orla since those are the two we've written together so far:
Asharen is truly a joy of a person and I strive to have her strength of character and ability to grow and adapt as she does. I would have lost my shit and get thrown in jail more times than I could count in her situation. It takes strength to remain steadfast in your beliefs, and bravery to let go of what no longer works for you when it used to work so well before
Orla is a survivor, rough edges and all there is a single throughline that guides them: they want to be a better person. At whatever the cost to themself, they will make sure that they are never controlled to do terrible things for another. These hands will continue doing terrible things - they are good at that - but they will be done for the right reasons. It's not always a good thing, but that sort of drive is impressive.
🪷 Whose writing do you admire?
Oh there are so many and for so many different reasons. I'll restrict myself to four for now because otherwise I will be here all day. I still stand by the sentiment that @warwine 's writing might be the best that I've ever read. @k1tch3n is much of the same, though you could say that ryan and charlie are both in a single package. @extravagantfool tepid is tepid, you all know them. Asha is wonderful but the breath of talent and in the characters written is insane. And outside of the RP since @bodysnatch3r is no longer around in the rpc, each time I see Matty's writing I feel inspired to write myself - and that is worth gold!
💕 Say something nice about your own writing. this was also asked by @keepslore and @archaeval
I'll write three then!
I enjoy writing themes and being able to stick with them. It truly sparks a lot of joy to be able to see themes that I set up in earlier timelines come to fruition in rp. Of course, these often take years (if you ask @psychescape how long we took to get Krem and Maxima to where they are in Veilguard you will see that it's been almost a decade, and no I don't want to hear a single thing about it actually)
I enjoy how quickly I'm able to draft and leave in a somewhat complete state a draft or drabble. I have very little free time, so being able to focus and do things is vital in order to keep rp as a hobby. To be able to say that I enjoy and am proud of 90% of what I write is something to be proud of, especially since that wasn't always the case and the fact that English is my second language.
I am slow. I do feel at times I am hard to plot with (it is what it is, being timezones wise or just life being very busy or people not meshing) however I try to be a steadfast partner. The things we plan, if you stick to them, will still be on the table years down the line. And if you stick with writing with me then we will have years long plots.
🤢
Send me a 🤢 and I'll say terrible things about you.
Bishop is such a pain in the ass.
Not only does he painstakingly world build for his weird, gangly death-boy fuckmage, but he seems to care about not only the culture his character comes from but the world at large and how it relates to that culture and the character. Sounds like WOKE BULLSHIT to me.
Bishop takes time to deeply sift through the sands of what makes a man a man, and can admit when his character has flaws that make him less heroic. GAY. BETA.
Plus, Bishop is always spending so much fucking time posting screenshots and modding so that he can have wonderful photos and content to share. BOO
0/10. Dumb.

TIME FOR SOME POSITIVITY! | @wakesleft
send 🌹 and i'll recommend a blog that makes me happy
i think i can confidently speak for everyone when i say @valorcorrupt makes our days brighter. we haven't spoken much ( which I aim to fix ), but that just goes to show you how welcoming and friendly merc is, because every single time we have spoken, they've been so kind!
send 🍁 and i'll recommend my favorite blog duo
how can i not mention you and your dear @graveswalked??? i just love witnessing how you both influence each other, whether it be worldbuilding or just character introspection; you both put so much love and work into your characters, the world around your characters, and i always smile when i see you mention one another in each other's posts. couples creating together is always a pleasure to witness - not to mention reading the ride-or-die gothic romance emmrich and astoria have, which. 10/10 no notes.
@wakesleft sent: "so you're - i see. oh, forgive me. that was rather ominous. i was a..friend of the late warden panthin. she saved my life," an affection far from forgotten gentled emmrich's tense smile, "honestly. she made it something of a habit."
He felt something grab at his chest at the name, though he managed to keep his expression mostly neutral. Panthin. He hadn't heard anybody call her that in years. The Hero, maybe, the Warden Commander, Inara -
"You don't need to apologize," he said quickly, and was surprised how steady his voice sounded. It felt like it was breaking. "You're right - she did make a habit of saving people." Despite his steadiness, the words were more chopping than he'd intended and he had to pause, collecting his thoughts before continuing. "I'm glad she was there for you when you needed her."
And Alistair meant it, even if saying it felt like swallowing glass. Emmrich clearly had cared about her, the affection clear in their voice. And if Inara had saved their life more than once, then they'd been important to her too. That still mattered, regardless of everything else.
"You implied multiple times," he continued after a moment, managing something closer to genuine curiosity. "Were you travelling together at some point, or just running into each other? I'm curious what brought you into her path - and what kind of trouble you managed to find that required multiple rescues." At least he'd managed a hint of mirth as well, an attempt to actually engage rather than retreat into his own complicated grief.
