Clear skies to storm clouds at Twin Bridges Orphanage!
May 30th: Twin Bridges Orphanage
Waking up a little worse for wear and majorly hungover, in Lincoln - we continued on our journey. The bartender, Erin, told us about the Netflix Series being shot up in Lincoln, about the infamous Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski. She was an extra and had mentioned the night before that they had re-built the actual cabin. Pointing us in the direction, but not knowing exactly where - we decided to see if we could spot it. We almost found it too! Continuing along the rainy-day road, back to Deer Lodge, we passed the other hungover construction workers we had partied with the night before. At this moment a rock flew up and smashed my windshield wiper clean off my car. We pulled over and exchanged the passenger wiper for the drivers side. The squeaking of the vacant wiper arm made the most unbearable screeching sound, so I MacGyver‘d my panties around the arm and we were off (pink La Senza tag flapping in the wind). Dlynda and Tammy are from Dillon, MT - which is close to a town called Twin Bridges. Just outside the town is an old haunted Orphanage that they had always wanted to check out, but had never had the chance to see. Although there was the question of - if we would actually be allowed on the property - we decided to take the chance. So with my panties on my windshield we were off! Driving into the large property gates we were in awe as multiple decrepit buildings welcomed us. A man named Dwayne was nice enough to point us in the direction of the owner, who was at the Blue Anchor bar in town. We drove to the bar and asked where she was, but the bartender had told us we had just missed her. After a Bud and some shake-a-day’s ( a dice game played in the States for progressive $ pots or drinks - depending on how many you can get of the same number - kinda like Yahtzee ) we went back to the orphanage. I walked up to the owners house and was met by Leslie Adams. I told her where I had come from, what I was doing on my trip and that my friends from Dillon pointed me in her direction. She told us we were welcome to walk around and we were actually allowed to enter two of the more solid structures. I couldn’t believe our luck!!! Walking around the property you can feel the eyes on you from every looming structure. About halfway through the tour a giant thunderstorm drifted into the grounds. Lightning and thunder set the creepy scene, as we explored the old dorm buildings - you couldn’t have created a more perfect time to be in the old orphanage if you tried. It’s moments like these that prove to me I’m on the right path. This is what I’m meant to do. It’s pretty clear now.... Tammy and Dlynda had decided to wander over to the second dorm, but I wasn’t done in the other one yet. Alone and separated from the others I ventured upstairs into weird dark room with no windows. The roof beams were all exposed - as the room’s ceiling was missing and as I panned up I was grabbed by something I caught on video. I also had some electrical interference while filming, but that could have been from the storm. One of the buildings we couldn’t go in had a broken window and as I shouted in, “Who’s there?” A man answered back with the EVP, “A broken man.” Once the storm had passed we hopped into the car and we drove back to Butte to drop off Tammy and Dlynda - after all I had a karaoke date with destiny in Deer Lodge.
Meet the one and only Evel Knievel!
May 29th: The Lincoln Hotel
I had to leave Calgary early to motor down to Helena, MT’s campus. I was meeting a local Montana Historian, Ellen Baumler, for lunch. Although we have been talking for the last couple weeks - this was our first meeting. Ellen, very generously, took me for lunch at a local cafe. She convinced me to order her favorite item - sweet tea & a salad with blue cheese “MERICA”, chicken and cherries. It was a strangely tasty combo. I first contacted Ellen in April, after my shocking trip down to Montana, where I almost died in a haunted brothel, from CO poisoning - and was also attacked by a medium that we had brought down with us for an event at Old Montana State Prison. I had become close with the spirit of William Hayes and she was helping me to find more info about him. After lunch Ellen took me over to an older part of Helena - where the old miners used to live. She wanted to test my intuition. I don’t ever claim to be a psychic, but have been told that I am a powerful medium. We walked up the street and instantly I could feel the presence of prostitution - so I mentioned it and Ellen pointed behind me, “That’s the brothel there.”
We walked further up the street and she pointed one of the old buildings and started to talk about the man whom had resided there. At that moment, I felt like something had struck my frontal lobe. I mentioned to her that I believed the man had died from a head trauma. She concurred and I added, “From an accident, right?“ She said, “YES!” and I was blown away! We went to another structure at the top of the road, but I didn’t pick up on too much up there. The last couple structures she took me to were two cabins that were adjoined. As we came through the back I started to question the structure of the building and the locations of the doors. She mentioned that yes, the front door was not the actual door, and that the cabin used to be two structure that they had connected after the fact. My Ghost Radar AP ( a word data base that spirits can manipulate - I have tested it and over the course of my experiences - I believe it to be an accurate tool ) mentioned the name GEORGE. Ellen turned to me and said, “that was the name of the man who had lived there.” At that moment I felt an icy band reach across the top-right-side of my head, and my face slumped. So, I asked if he had died from a stroke and she confirmed that! She asked what else I felt and I told her I could hear a child crying in the distance. I felt sick and said, “Perhaps the child had died from a fever/sickness.” That’s when she confirmed that the neighboring cabin had a 10-year-old girl that had died from measles. At this point I was yelling “Shut up!” completely surprised at how much I had picked up on. Like I said before - I don’t really consider myself anything but an empath. Impressed with my intuition, Ellen drove us back to the campus and took me inside the Montana Historical Society to give me one of her many books! I was beaming and gave her my thanks and we made plans to meet again in the near future! ---- While writing this I just had a huge deja vu ---- Holy crap! Weird!---- The next stop was Butte, MT to pick up friends that I had met from the last event I put on at the prison. Dlynda and Tammy were waiting patiently at the Walmart for me and we all hopped in one car to make our way towards Lincoln, MT. But first, how could I resist the temptation to see Evel Knievel’s grave? He was located right across the street in the Mountain View Cemetery. Adorned with all things ‘Merica the daredevil’s headstone sat in the front row with a large bottle of Jack and two shot glasses. Picture perfect. The drive to Lincoln was a beauty, as it always is. The 200 is my favorite Montana highway - so far. It twists and turns through the forest right below our Crowsnest Pass and is breathtaking! Take this road people! I have been going to the Lincoln Hotel now for at least a year. The first time I stumbled upon the log hotel, was the day the owners had purchased the hotel. I have had the pleasure of investigating the whole thing prior, and knew it would be a great place to kick back, on the first day of my trip. The bartender Erin was there and met me with open arms. We took room 21 and commenced the party. Some people might argue about this, but I believe it’s a good thing to have at least a couple drinks in your system before you go investigating. I’m not saying GET WASTED - bad idea, but a couple drinks makes me more open and loose. Same way I would deal with a blind date really. One prevalent character Lincoln has to offer is a man by the name of Prospector Bob. He’s always around and has the voice of Sam Elliot - we all agreed. We all headed out to the fire and Bob told us old mining tales. Sometimes he would forget where he was going with the story and fill in his blanks with laughable “ARRRRR”s. I love the man and can’t wait to go hounding with him next time. A few local construction workers joined us and we all got our drink on in the beautiful backyard of the Hotel. We were having so much fun, we almost forgot to investigate! Although, I did see a shadow peak around from the kitchen to the bar - which Erin confirmed is an occurrence that frequently happens to the owner, Roy. The night was quiet. Quite perfect. If you have never been to the old Lincoln Log Cabin - make sure to make the trip. If anything you might stumble across the old prospector for a tale and a Bud.
Shot taken from Paracon @ The Globe Theater - where I got the awesome opportunity to show some of my EVP’s to the audience. The Globe itself is said to be haunted. Can’t you tell by the look on my co-presenter, Debi Watson’s face? Ha.
