Can we stop asking strangers for their medical information as small talk? Like, I get it. I really do. You see someone with crutches or a walking boot or whatever and you’re curious and you want to share that time you had the same thing. But, the whole problem with needing to ask that question is that you don’t know what happened. That could be a disability. That could be a reminder of a traumatic event. That could just be something they don’t want to talk about. Shouldn’t physical pain/injuries be an obvious potential trigger? Shouldn’t we tread lightly when we request personal information? Shouldn’t we stop asking people about their bodies before we ask their names?
