A freight-car ferry, was the original #tracksacrossthebay for the #sanfrancisco and #northpacificrailway from #SF to #Sausalito, after #WW1 it was refurbished as a #passenger and #automobile ferry beginning service in 1923. In 1941 #Eureka had the dubious distinction of making the last #MarinCounty run. It could haul 120 #automobiles and 2300 #passengers. Prior to the #GoldenGateBridge, the #ferry was considered the link for #highway101 across the bay. (at Hyde Street Pier)
