Pledge to Go Car Free and Join Us for Walking Town DC
Steve Shulman, executive director of Cultural Tourism DC, urges DC-area residents to take the pledge to go car free. Then join us for Walking Town DC 2018, an annual event that offers more than 75 free, guided walking and biking tours that feature distinctive aspects of the District of Columbia. It introduces DC residents and visitors to the culture, history, and stories of Washington’s neighborhoods through a series of "bite-size" lunchtime tours, after-work "happy hour" tours, and tours throughout the day on weekends.
Walking Town DC runs from now through September 23. This year, we’re joining with Commuter Connections to celebrate Car Free Day on Friday, September 21, and/or Saturday, September 22, 2018. Everyone who signs up to take the free pledge at www.carfreemetrodc.org will become eligible to win great prizes from Cultural Tourism DC and other sponsors including a Samsung Galaxy Tab, gift cards from Giant Food Stores, VRE commuter train round-trip passes, $25 SmarTrip fare cards, Capital Bikeshare annual memberships, annual Washington Area Bicyclist Association memberships, and more!
“Walking Town DC offers a great opportunity for those who want to explore all the history and culture this city has to offer,” said Nicholas Ramfos, Commuter Connections Director. “Take the pledge to go car free and participate in Walking Town DC for a great free tour. It is a win-win for art, history, culture, and the environment.”
