Not too long ago i began to experience the authority of Jesus in me in a very different way.
There are times i’d be having a perfectly good day and a silly voice of the devil would say something contrary to the Spirit of God. This voice if listened to can drag you away from the God-Life into something very much mediocre but the moment you take a stand, He flees.
So, i’d be having a good day and he’d try to lead me away from the truth or from what I have and the moment I say “Get Away From Me” or just simply “Get Away” he would say “Okay”. As simple as that!
The first time i heard it, i was certainly surprised but subsequently i began to enjoy it as it confirmed the truth below:
So place yourselves under God's authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.
I’m not writing this to tell you that you won’t ever be tempted, not at all. I am writing this to tell you 2 things:
1. You Have The Authority of Jesus!
Luke 10:19 GOD'S WORD Translation
I have given you the authority to trample snakes and scorpions and to destroy the enemy's power. Nothing will hurt you.
Galatians 5:16 GOD'S WORD Translation
Let me explain further. Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you. Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants.
Number One reveals the need for you to exercise the authority you have in Jesus and in His name. Philippians 2:10 (GW) - “so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will kneel”
The second is very plain but a bit difficult to understand for some. It simply says you should live your life obedient to your Spirit.
Why - The Word of God is implanted in your spirit eager and active - Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
That LIVING WORD is God’s Being and it houses His desires (Will) for you. We understand that God is Spirit (John 4:12) and He is Light (1 John 1:5)and in Him is no darkness at all. This means that if you live simply put - BY GOD, You will follow only God!
How - As i said earlier, God is that living word you received from Jesus and you have to plant yourself firmly in Him.
Colossians 2:7 Sink your roots in him and build on him. Be strengthened by the faith that you were taught, and overflow with thanksgiving.
Feed your Spirit with the Word of God and Hold unto God, He will show you the Way and teach you to walk on it.
