Here are the girls’ costumes for Halloween! The Little Kid wanted to be WALL-E, and for her baby sister to be “WALL-E’s little insect friend”. 😄 yep, baby cockroach!! Fabrication notes: - I cut large pieces of cardboard down to 14"x18" for the body panels, 14"x14" square top. Cut the arm holes and cutout and shaped the side panels for arms. This way her arms, with caution tape felt visible, hug into the sides just like WALL-E -wheels/treads I cut cardboard strips and scored them, then shaped the treads. Attached with zip ties to the body and fitted the felted cardboard wheels inside, then the caps. - if you press the speaker area, it says “Waaaalll-e”: we took the sound panel from a talking Wall-e book and affixed that, then built the panel over it. - not shown, but there are colored LEDs to illuminate the solar panel and other buttons (record play stop) - covered it with the various felt pieces using adhesive spray or felt glue. Three magnets inside the felt secure the front panel opening for garbage compactor. There’s a shallow cardboard piece in there that keeps it from sagging when the plant is inside. - Eyes are cut from poster board and mounted on a visor, covered in felt. Took 3" googly eyes apart to use the lenses for the eyes, with little felt “rivets” - BnL cooler is a cardboard box and felt. Used felt and Velcro for hanging it in back. Comes off for candy collection! :) plant in boot is just felt, pipe for structure, and some batting in the boot. - there is 1" of foam in the shoulders for comfort, as well as a wide ribbon that ties around her waist to keep the box from rocking too forward or backward - turtleneck with white and black caution tape on the lower arm portions - cut the fingers off black gloves and sewed on grey rectangles for wall-e's hands. Added loops near the tops of her fingers so they move with her hands without the felt restricting movement The Cockroach: - used extra thick pipe cleaners and sewed felt for the antennae and extra legs. -antennae are on a stretchy baby headband - used felt and batting for the wings
