Art dump because I am flowkirkenuinley reaching flow state
Do danians ever have existential crises? What if there's more to life than B I T E and L I F T?
Wamma: I enjoy the B I T E, though.
Sarah: Of course, you do.
Wamma: Sometimes, I do think of a life outside Mount Pillar, or any of the other nests. I don't know, I like the security here and us Danians, we might be even more hated than the UnderWorlders.
Me and a few others from the Discord had a Wamma-so-fat spree and the one below took me out.
The whole conversation Wammawink is, very badly, trying to get back onto Water Baby’s good side. Water Baby, being the mom figure I’m pretty sure she is, isn’t really having it. She’s still clearly upset by Wammawinkrunning off on her instead of staying to finish her training, while Wammawink is convinced she just wasn’t good enough to be a shaman and wants Water Baby to acknowledge that.
Now, I’m kinda with Wammawink on this one?
Like, Water Baby clearly isn’t a bad person, she wants to help, but if you pay attention to the way she acts, she tends to be pretty manipulative. Stating that, to get Horse home, it’s Wammawink that needs to do it, not her. And it’s technically not untrue. Wammawink is the one actually helping Horse. Water Baby’s magic can only effect centaurworld at the moment, bridging the gap between the worlds is going to take serious firepower. More than one Shaman probably has. But it’s also putting a lot of pressure onto Wammawink that she’s not really able to handle at the moment.
Wammawink knows her limits. A part of that is not having a lot of faith in herself, but it also stems from what she actually wants out of life. Water Baby, for all her great power, is out here totally alone. Wammawink wants a herd, a family and loved ones, and I think being a shaman means you have to hold yourself a little separate from others. Full on Jedi “having attachments makes you lose sight of the bigger picture” kind of deal.
Stars
making up stories for the constellations in Perim. This is fun. Najarin is going to tell Tom the stories. Takinam is going to tell Kaz. Peyton has been collecting stories ever since he got there and Wamma told Sarah that since Danians spent a lot of time underground they had more interesting legends about odd rock formations. One day they all camp out over night in the Mepedian desert and try to tell the story behind the same constellation.
“What?! No way! It’s about the first OverWorlder to breath underwater!”
“Sorry my dude, but That’s the legendary dragon claw, that points the king on his quest. Not to be messed with.”
“Of course neither of you know. That is the first king of the UnderWorld. He was letting his people be slaughtered so he was thrown into an active volcano and when it exploded his bits and pieces stuck in the sky!”
“It’s a circle?!!?”
That fire element is pretty nifty, Wamma. How'd you learn it?
Oh, well, I’ve always been good with it, I guess. By the time I got out of basic training with Attacks, I mean. Just the element that appeared for me—I’m not an Elementalist or anything. Just trained to be a Mandiblor!
I never really had a pressing reason to study the other elements, and I can’t seem to call upon them anyways, so, eheh.
Page Twenty Seven!
Wamma what do you think of Aszil and vice versa?
Wamma: I don’t really know her; I barely even knew Illexia. Us Manidblors don’t really learn anything about our queens, except through how they manage the Hive or there’s a big enough ceremony that includes us. Aszil held a couple recently. She seems to know what she’s doing... but she’s scary. Real scary.
Aszil: Ah yes, that Flame Guard. One of the friendlier Danians in that rank but was always sleeping on the job. I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have relied on him for much past guard duty.
Wamma: She actually recognized me? ...What? We all look the same. It’s a good thing when we manage to stand out!
