It's tea party time! What a lovely family moment. 🌻
im gonna eat them
The fact that Scarabedo has somewhat materialised into canon Genshin (i.e.: they know about each other, have worked close with one another, and there’s a whole third character that exists because of them) is kinda crazy to me because, four years ago, when Scaramouche’s lore was just scraps on Kannazuka island, a part of the fandom already was able to catch that and associate it to Albedo’s lore, thus creating this ship.
Even when the Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event came out people began to bring up Durin’s similarities to Scaramouche (thus birthing a whole tangent ship for a brief while w the Albedo double).
All of this was a total reach. Hell, ask anyone back then and they would have said Sacaramouche was clearly meant to tie more to Kazuha wasn’t he? Relate him to the Mondstadt alchemist? It was insane!
But was it? The fandom saw two artificially created humans following different paths as the failure and the prodigy of their respective creators and thought there was potential there. That’s what made me so obsessed with the ship. There is simply too much potential on the interactions of these two who have such similar origins yet such different fates.
What gets me about this whole ordeal is how what was once a total reach, Hoyoverse has made it into a reality (the connecting the characters part). To me it shows that they’re more thoughtful about what stories they give their characters than we often think. It’s so satisfying to see that potential realised on-screen.
The thing is, I would have personally been happy that they met and talked once, but the game has gone a step further and been like: “See this other failed creation with a similar story (Durin)? Well we are going to bring him back with the help of both the failed creation (Wanderer) and the prodigal creation (Albedo) as a way to demonstrate the progress of both of these character’s journeys. Boom.”
That’s wild to someone who has been clawing the walls like a madman talking about them for years.
People might jump me for what I’m going to say next but this does make me give more respect to Hoyoverse as a company. Because they could have just as well made the jump to create Durin without the whole Summertide Scales and Tales event or Wanderer being involved at all. Simply have Albedo go through the trial and come up with some bs to revive Durin as a good guy on the spot would have probably sufficed. But instead they decided to appreciate what was already there and actually build something cohesive out of it (stuff that’s existed for years, which they could have just as easily ignored). To me, that’s a sign of a company that cares about making a good product (the characters).
P.S.: And don’t even get me started on how Scaramouche on his own has actually gone through a lot of character growth.

I purposely chose the turquoise color for their pendants (mainly for Wanderer's anemo vision) and followed Utena and Anthy's patterned colors
