Ruins of Lordaeron.

The Upper East Side at night was something truly...ironically, magical, at night. The city lights were probably Lucian’s favorite thing about the whole damn place to begin with. It was the closest he got to actual stargazing out here. Not like he’d ever known anything other than the city in the first place. When he couldn’t sleep he often would go for a walk, have a smoke, people watch a bit, maybe bother someone he knew at a local bar. He’d picked one tonight but hadn’t gone in, had spent the last ten minutes just leaned against the wall, cigarette in hand. It wasn’t the greatest idea and for the most part he’d kept his wandering to a minimum, between nearly being eaten by Tuesday Bordeaux and his family now being involved with these bodies, it wasn’t the safest thing to be out and about this late. He could take care of himself to an extent though, he didn’t have the height or (rather excessive, in his opinion) muscles that his brothers did. But the same magic ran through him and he was more toned than he looked underneath his jacket and cloud of cigarette smoke.
But there was something that just wasn’t right, he could feel it in the air and the unease in his gut. And then he saw it, a figure looking to be wandering aimlessly down the sidewalk. A woman, shorter than him looking slightly disheveled, eyes looking glassy, lost. He knew that look, he’d seen it on enough humans at this point. With a heavy sigh he made his way towards her after stubbing out his cigarette on the brick of the building. There was no usual sarcasm or abrasion here, only concern and curiosity. “Excuse me,” he said as he approached her, hands in the pockets of his jacket. As he got closer he was looking her over, searching for any signs that she was bleeding, injured in general. “You seem a bit lost.” she probably wasn’t but certainly looked it as he reached out to touch her shoulder.
i am long-winded. i sit on this throne of trash and bleakness, hunched over from murdering my spine all those years, thinking i wouldn't live to see the consequences. mundanity of things overwhelms me and bores me. i crave something else. never grew out of this phase, of saying: 'anywhere but here', 'anything but this'. i wish could lay on a meadow, listen to insects buzz, to the wind and leaves, and feel at peace. all in all, i am a martyr for nothing special.
you know, you have to spit it out. all this bile, this venom. i have not; at some point, i held it in, and never ate, and never slept - and it stayed. now - that's what wakes me up every day, kisses my loved ones, laughs with my friends, falls asleep with me at the end of the day. it is as much a part of me as every other emotion, memory and feeling. it doesn't kill, doesn't make me hurt all the time, doesn't leave me helpless, not anymore - it tells me to be cool, calm and collected, but to never lower my guard. to question all that's inside. have i fallen out of love? am i ever gonna be a functional human being? are my feelings just like other people's? have i pulled a muscle, or broken my heart? and it never stops, and it probably never will. the sickness can be managed, but never cured, and i do manage it alright - just a day or two of being overcame with venom can be survived. i read, do my work, write and paint and i am happy. i just wish everyone else knew - before it gets too late. before it swallows you whole.
