Hello! I was wonderimg if you could do a fluffy Nine x Rose prompt? With maybe some hurt and comfort? Thank you!
Rose pulls him toward her favorite chippy, where the owner knows her by name and his daughter gives her discounts when she pays at the register. She doesn’t realize how hungry she is until the first salty potato touches her tongue, but she figures watching your whole planet explode will do that to you. And the Doctor is an odd sort of talkative, like he’s dashing away other thoughts they brought up not ten minutes before.
She scrunches her nose in annoyance.
She’s always open with her friends, and he’s not any different.
“You can talk to me, you know.”
He pauses mid-sentence, swallows like the words are stuck in his throat but his heavy brow makes him a little more intimidating. Rose wants to say that she understands, but she doesn’t, not really. She understands that her people won’t last forever, and that things change over and over, but she doesn’t know what that feels like now. The Doctor has already lived that. His past is gonna be her future, or however time really works. “What I mean is, you don’t have to hide anything.”
You don’t have to be alone.
She pops another chip into her mouth, forming her words to match her thoughts. “S’like... Shareen and I, we never hid anything. That’s why she’s still a good friend.” She gives him a pointed look. “And when I said there’s me, I meant it.”
A grim look passes over his face at that, and he crosses his arms and leans back into his chair across from her. “You don’t have to do that.”
Rose shrugs. “I don’t. But I am.”
“And a hard head.” He taps his knuckles on his head, bringing back memories of plastic arms and doggy doors and the broken coffee table she should apologize to mum for.
“Yep. A bundle of laughs.”
Silence swells between them.
“Really, Doctor,” Rose continues, a chip dangling in her mouth. “You don’t have to tell me now, but I’ll be there for you.”
She says it as casually as possible, but with enough feeling to get her point across. The corner of his mouth twitches up in amusement, or in attempt to cover up the sad look in his eyes.
“Yeah. I have a feeling you’ll stick around.”
