The Legendary Life of Queen Lau. 7/8
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Large Queen (cdrama); Oh My General (cdrama); Romance of Tiger and Rose (cdrama)
Do not take this drama seriously at all. It’s a completely silly, hilarious, over the top (satire) historical comedy. If you saw ‘Oh My General’ it has that type of humor in it. Now what drew me in is the female lead in this, Jackie Li, who I absolutely love love love in this. She bends all sorts of normals in what atypical female lead is like in a cdrama. The male lead Li Hong Yi is great as well and both having excellent chemistry together. The secondary main couple which breaks also most norms is the parents which is also a great highlight in this. Their freaking hilarious together as well and equally fun to watch. The only big drawback for me is that towards the later half it does get stale and bogged down feeling like most of it is just filler episodes. The storyline definitely should’ve been shortened down a lot to make it flow better. I’d say towards around 25 of the episodes is when I just wanted to fast forward through most scenes. Overall through its a super fun drama.
I'm still chipping away at the Legendary Life of Queen Lau a little bit before work everyday.
I love how everyone is straight up dumb. This is a dumb comedy and everyone came out to have fun, make jokes, and dance, and everyone knows it. It must have been so much fun to film this before the costume controversy started.
Grand Chancellor Liu Xie (played by Wang Dong) is my new age-appropriate crush. I swear every time he looks affectionately at his wife and daughter I want to book a flight to mainland China. He's portrayed as such a weasel at the beginning of the drama but he's MY weasel.
The 2020s are really giving us men who love their women huh.

山河令 || Word of Honor ↪ Episode 1
They all lied to me! Yunxing is gone! Beiyuan— Beiyuan is gone too. I am now truly alone in this world.
Hah, it’s amusing that Feng Xi is immediately jealous of the attention Dong Yue is paying on Wen Ye. The viewers can see in the flashback of Dong Yue’s memories that he’s actually her father - love time paradoxes like this - but nobody else but Dong Yue knows this.
Heh, Dao Le’s question only furls FX’s jealousy, since he doesn’t know why DY is so interested in this other man and paying so much attention to him, and defending him in court.
Wen Ye thought she looked somehow familiar even though they had never actually met before, so she concludes that DY reminds him of his dead wife and asks if she would meet his daughter Wen Xin, whereas in actuality it’s the other way round, DY reminds him of his wife, because she’s her daughter.
Dong Yue looks so happy remembering her childhood when she goes to the back garden! A memory of happier times before the war that destroyed everything. But looks like she’s about to meet her childhood self in the next episode!
