The day felt to be slow as he sat at his desk, shifting a pair of glasses up over his eyes from their placement on the bridge of his nose. It was already nearing sunset, the orange rays peeking through the window as he brought the quill down to the dark colored parchment, writing some notes upon it as he mumbled to himself; lines being drawn from one position to the other in a circular motion. It was a map. A map of Darkshore. From the information that he was given from their spies and soldiers on the front lines, he was trying to plot out the Horde route as best as possible. He would continue to draw separate lines and notes from that indication; a way of sending troops in to be able to cut them off and stop them from pushing further North. The War of Thorns was upon them.
He just huffed out a breath of air, setting his quill in the inkwell and resting his hand in his hand, elbow resting on the desk itself. His fingers rose up to brush along the side of his temple, feeling it pulse lightly from doing paperwork for a good portion of the day. He shifted his hand so that it covered the front of his mouth, eyes closing for a moment of silence. Actual silence. No whispers, no sounds, no constant feeling of dread. He had escaped the clutches of the shadow magic before it could sink it’s claws any further into him. However, that feeling of dread was stronger than ever, due to worrying on the state of his home. He knew that’s what the Hordes mission was… to take Darnassus. Was it possible? -Could- it happen? All these thoughts rung around in his head, though did his best to shake it off; something he could not deny would be hard.
He stood up from his chair and slowly made his way over to the closet, going to a locked container set up beside of it as he pulled the key for it from his pocket. He unlocked it and opened it up, revealing a slightly battle-worn rifle and some boxes of ammo that could be seen. He took a leather kit that was near the side of the box and the rifle out before moving back to take his seat at his desk, setting the rifle down and pulling out a rag and some cleaning utensils. It was then he began to take the gun apart, wiping down the chambers and cleaning out the insides as best as possible. Some time had passed as he worked, now hearing Jansen in his and the other bedroom, sounding like he had just gotten out of his bath. His attention was still on the weapon in front of him, but, at the same time, he heard feet step over and stop at the doorway, knowing it to be his beloved Vexxis, who was holding Alastor in her arms.
“My love, I am just going to bathe little Alastor here and we will be ready for supper in just a moment.” He could feel a light tension in her voice as she eyed the weapon that lay on his desk, his work papers pushed to the side for a moment. He set down the piece he was cleaning, turning his head up to her as he caught that smile; she still smiled even though he knew she feared for him to go off and assist in the skirmishes that took place in the northern parts of Kalimdor, a place he once, and would continue to call home. “Is your work going well?” She questioned softly, fixing Alastor in a more comfortable position in her arms. As those words fell from her mouth, he wiped his hands off with a fresh rag and stood, moving to approach her and stop against the door.
A hand rose to press to her cheek, curling his fingers against it. “It is going well. Just thought I would clean my gun, just in case.” A blush lit up on her cheeks as his hand lowered and curled through the white locks on Alastor’s head. “I am almost finished, and I will go get started on our dinner, is that alright with you, my beautiful moonflower?” She eagerly nodded her head, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek and turning on her feet to head into the washroom. But, before she did, she stopped and turned around to look at him again. “Do you think you will have to go?” She questioned, knowing his loyalties still lie with the King and the Alliance. He sighed and looked to the floor, knowing he may have to if the situation were to become any worse. But, he still answered truthfully. “It is more than possible I may have to lead my troops. But, I will know soon enough if we are to reinforce the backup that is being sent. Everything will be fine, my love. This I promise you.” Those words seemed to ease her some, but, he still saw that fear in her eyes before she turned and went on her way to be able to go about giving their child a bath. She called out as she slipped in to the bathroom, “There is some mail on the table downstairs as well, love! I just thought you should know!”
He chuckled softly as he pushed the last piece of the rifle into place and made sure nothing seemed off or out of order as he set it back down. Once more, he rose to his feet with ease and with light steps, made his way out of the room to go downstairs. As she said, a stack of papers and envelopes were left on the dining room table. He went to go search through them for a moment, seeing the local newspapers, some letters from his work. But, one particular letter with a dark purple seal; a dagger… He knew it was from his father. As hastily as he could, he slipped his finger beneath the opening and ripped across the seal to be able to open it. And so, he read.
Dear son,
I certainly know by now that you have received word of what is going on in this part of the world. Do not fear, your mother and I are safe as we speak. But, I cannot promise that our safety may be in grave danger. She has already taken to the front lines, and I plan to join her soon enough. We promised ourselves that we would not fight without the other, despite her leading her Sentinel’s into battle. I only ask this of you; I ask you to be safe. Stay out of this battle if you can. Do not go out of your way. So many have died already, and I would not wish to see you be led into this hell all the same. I could not see my grandchildren without a father to show them the world. Do not fight this. Protect your family. I will see you soon, my son.
Your An’da, Caal’thos.
He fell back into the wooden seat, setting the letter down in front of him on the table. A hand rose up to brush back through his hair as he tried to understand what exactly that his father was asking him. To stay his hand in the fight against the Horde? How could he even think to do that? News would soon be given, to state whether his men would fight or not. And at this point, it would certainly be that he had to. He stood once more, staring down at the parchment with a fire burning in his eyes; Come hell or high water, he had promised his protection to not only Vexxis and his kids, but to his people. He only hoped.. she would take it lightly. This he swore by an utterance of breath, one that he could only hear.
American Civil War: Battle of Fort Sumter. The war begins with Confederate forces firing on Fort Sumter, in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina, on April 12, 1861.
Raphael had a headache. Liv was... friends? girlfriends? hanging out with Lucinda. He probably would’ve been less upset over the matter if it didn’t mean that Lucinda had found a way out of hell. He didn’t know how long this had been happening, but he knew that it had meant trouble and that Michael would want to know about it. So after arguing with the devil and his daughter, he’d had to go report the situation to Michael and it had ended about as well as he’d anticipated. He didn’t want Civil War anymore than the rest of them did, but it was happening. Michael was gathering the troops. Raphael just wanted to talk to Elsa before he left to fight, so he popped straight into her and Morgan’s living room, calling out, “Elsa? Can we talk? It is important.”
